Globe supports International Outsourcing Summit

Globe Telecom supported the recently concluded 2009 International Outsourcing Summit organized by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P) together with the Department of Tourism.

The conference, held last Oct. 19-21 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza, was attended by more than 200 stakeholders in the Business Process Outsourcing global industry. Globe President and CEO Ernest L. Cu provided insights on Shared Services for business processes. Globe also chaired the Academe Panel where a comprehensive talent strategy for service outsourcing was discussed.

“In Globe, we apply the Shared Services model to specific operations in order to attain greater efficiencies in delivering public service. Our thrust is to deliver the best quality service to our customers and so we continue to employ processes that will help us achieve this,” said Ernest L. Cu, President and CEO of Globe.

As a member of BPA/P, Globe supports the Philippines’ aim to be the preferred outsourcing location for global enterprises. Through its corporate arm Globe Business, Globe has continued to pour investments to strengthen its domestic and international backbone.

globe summit

Globe contributes and promotes the continued growth of the country’s offshoring and outsourcing (O&O) industry by providing the best connectivity in the country. The Tata Global Network Intra-Asia Cable System, Globe’s fourth international cable infrastructure investment, began serving business customers early this year. Globe also offers the first and only pure IP MPLS network in the country with its multi-service IP MPLS network called IP Converge Optical Network (ICON) that delivers highly reliable and secure netw0rk connections.

To address the demands of the O&O industry, Globe provides a strong domestic data offering through its Broadband Access Service (BAX) network with 10G of bandwidth capacity. It also has a secure, flexible and reliable International Data Service that connects a business’ branch from the Philippines to the world. Its Data Center is the only multi-site data center service in the country with an ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 27001:2005 certifications.

In addition to its data offerings, Globe Business provides a comprehensive range of voice solutions from traditional landline and mobile services to business-grade solutions. It provides E1 ISDN transport, Managed Voice Services, Managed IP-PBX and Conferencing services to meet the varying needs of O&O enterprises.

Globe is proud to be a part of one of the biggest events in the BPO industry. Aside from being an exhibitor, Globe Business also hosted the summit’s farewell night with a gala dinner for delegates and participants with the theme World Class Filipino. The well received evening highlighted the talents and achievements of select Filipino artists and featured Akafellas, Erik Santos, The Maneuvers and Mae Bayot.

Globe Business is the partner of O&O enterprises in growing their business, delivering the latest technologies and solutions that fit their needs ranging from cost efficiency to security, mobility, IT integration, as well as reliable connectivity.

Globe leads Industry in Sustainability Development Reporting

Globe Telecom reaches another milestone in the industry as the first telecommunications firm in the country to release a corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability report using the internationally recognized Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.

The pioneering Globe sustainability report provides a detailed account of Globe CSR programs in 2008 with focus on its economic, social, and environmental impact in the community. The report also highlighted major CSR accomplishments implemented during the past five years through its flagship program Globe Bridging Communities (Globe BridgeCom).

The report follows the GRI’s Sustainability Reporting Guidelines (GRI G3), an international framework for measuring and reporting of economic, social, and environmental impacts. The GRI reporting framework is the most accepted international reporting framework applicable to corporations of any size, type or location. Many companies worldwide, including many of the worlds leading brands, have declared their voluntary adoption of the GRI guidelines.

“We are pleased that we have successfully integrated sustainable CSR programs into our overall business model. This report not only measures the investment Globe has made in communities, but more importantly the impact we have made toward developing sustainable platforms for growth in these communities. This demonstrates our vigorous commitment towards systematically building sustainable business models that are aligned with our social development goals,” said Globe President Ernest Cu.

Globe CSR report is among the recently released corporate sustainability reports published by the companies of the Ayala group. This is in line with the Ayala group’s commitment to sustainable development by integrating environmental and social programs in its business operations.
