Apple announces new Macbook Air 2012

During the WWDC held just moments ago, Apple is introducing a new line of Macbook Airs. The line-up will now be using the latest generation Intel Ivy Bridge processors (it’s more like a refresh).

New 2012 Macbook Air specs:
Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge 1.7GHz dual-core
Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge 2.0GHz dual-core
Intel HD 4000 Graphics
4GB or 8GB DDR3 RAM
512GB SATA SSD
2 x USB 3.0 ports
720p Facetime camera
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
Thunderbolt
Mac OS X Lion

For the 11.6-inch models, display resolution is still 1366×768 pixels. For the 13.3-inch, it’s 1440×900 pixels. Pretty disappointing really.

As for pricing, the 2012 Macbook Air 11.6″ will start at $999 for the 4GB RAM, 64GB SSD and Core i5 1.7GHz processor and $1,099 for the 128GB.

The Macbook Air 13.3″ will start at $1,199 for the 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM and Core i5 1.8GHz processor. That goes to $1,499 for the 256GB SSD variant.

For both models, options for 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD and Intel Core i7 2.0GHz is possible.

They are all shipping out today but we might wait a couple of weeks more before they get to the Philippines.

It’s actually 512 SATA SSD or solid state drive. You might want to check what it is capable(it’s performance compare to HDD or even versus the velociraptor of western digital) plus might want to check its price. caution! you might or you WILL flip over your chair. lol

I thought its worth the wait for the new macbook pro, but I’m dissapointed in the same resolution of the screen.

I like the one Sir Abe posted before, the Zenbook with full hd screens I think, hope you can have a comparison of the two.
