Apple Tablet PC in the works

Yep, all them speculations might be really true as Asus has confirmed a MacTablet for Apple.

It’s not a huge secret that Apple sources a lot of their spare parts from manufacturers like Asus, Samsung, FoxConn so when one partner says an Apple Tablet is in the works, it must be. And Taiwan PC manufacturer Asus is helping Apple create its own Tablet PC and they’ve got pictures to back it up.

MacTablet
CNet UK has the full story.

Will this fly? The tablet PC market is not that huge. A touch screen MacBook or MBP might be cool but an entirely screen-only tablet may just be a novelty that could be doomed to failure, something Apple has had before (remember Apple Newton?). Hopefully, this time they’ll succeed.

if it’s multi-touch, i’m sure it will be hot.

Hm. Somehow, this doesn’t appeal to me.

  3. yeah… multi-touch screen sounds like a winner… it would be like a mini version of the “big-ass table” microsoft have (MS Surface)

then again, would probably depends on the price

Apple is always innovative. I love them as they are trying to capture the imagination of the consumer.

    Nice post Abe.

Yeah, I think Apple can make it cheaper than Fujitsu and the Apple logo will look more cheerful in hospital wards.

Ho hum. Old news. And that photo screams FAKE!

Thinkpad controls this market with the X-series tablet. They cost around $2,900. Batteries can also last up to 8 hours. So imagine a mac tablet selling for $4,000 w/ batteries lasting just 3.5 hours. Never underestimate fanboyism, however, these will sell like hotcakes even if it’s just an Asus in a mac casing and logo.
