Globe to release White iPhone4 this week-end

Got word from one of the reps from Globe last night that the white variant of the iPhone 4 will be available in the Philippines this week-end. Now that’s fast.

The white iPhone 4 will initially be initially available in Globe Business Centers in the NCR (Metro Manila) region.

No specifics were given if it’s going to be Saturday or Sunday (but I guess it will be Saturday) but you will definitely be able to see and get one this week-end. The price of the white variant will be the same as the black one.

Globe Telecom is the exclusive distributor of the iPhone 4 in the Philippines.

Update: Here’s the copy of the official press release:

Globe Telecom announced that it will bring the white model of iPhone 4 to subscribers in the Philippines, after launching the earlier black version in September of last year.

“The long wait is over. Globe is changing everything again by bringing the white iPhone 4 exclusively to mobile phone users in the country. The white iPhone 4 is perfect for customers who want to personalize their iPhone 4 experience with a different look while keeping everything that makes iPhone 4 amazing,” said Peter Bithos, Senior Advisor of Consumer Business at Globe Telecom.

Apart from the Philippines, white models of the iPhone 4 are also available in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and the United States.

iPhone 4 is the most innovative phone in the world, featuring Apple’s stunning Retinaâ„¢ display, the highest resolution display ever built into a phone resulting in super crisp text, images and video, and FaceTime®, which makes video calling a reality. It also features a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, HD video recording, Apple’s A4 processor, a 3-axis gyro and up to 40 percent longer talk time—in a beautiful all-new design of glass and stainless steel that is the thinnest smartphone in the world. iPhone 4 comes with iOS 4, the newest version of the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, which includes over 100 new features. The revolutionary App Store provides access to more than 205,000 apps including the new iMovie app built just for iPhone 4.

wow, with all the dual core phones coming out i dont think its wise to spend 30+k on a last years phone just because its white and 5th version may also come out by june

I saw the new iphone last week in Gaisano Country Mall in Cebu. It’s not iphone 4 but IPHONE 5 from the land of the greatest imitators on earth,CHINA…

  10. daniel says:

di ko na i-sasacrifice ang dual core na black iPhone para lng sa isang white na iPhone :P

  11. phets says:

Not sure if it’s true.. but I heard that there were complaints about the thickness of the iPhone white.. It’s thicker than the black, which would be seriously troublesome when buying a case. I wouldn’t dare buy an iPhone, without purchasing a case.

    walang iPhone sa Smart! LOL

  13. Wreek888 says:

What is the use of white iphone if you will put a case in it?

    • earl says:

IF, you put a case/cover in it.

what most people fail to realize, it works just fine in asia without any case and covers. plus it covers up what is already a nice design.

or is it that people are just too scared to have their phones scratched

    • tmcr says:

You need a case so that it will not drop calls in case you touch that sensitive area called the antenna.

    • Mark says:

I have a black iphone4, and i dont put a case or cover or anything, and it works just fine.

this antenna thing is just an issue in the US.

and no, black iphone4 owners are not exactly excited about a white version–after all, its just a phone. that’s how i treat my phone anyway, just like any other piece of gadget, nothing special.

    • tmcr says:

good for you. a friend of mine has that antenna problem. another friend who also has an iphone 4 has noticed burns on the casing which protects the antenna band.

Just got back from Globe MegaMall.

Wala pa raw yung white iPhone 4. To be delivered pa lang daw. They can’t guarantee when it will arrive and there are NO reservations.

    WTF?!!!

Eh nagkalat na sa iba-ibang websites ang press release ng Globe tapos yung mismomg mga Globe call center reps and even the Business Center personnel puro walang alam.

    Epic fail.

  15. Law says:

I had the same experience when i dropped by SM Megamall inquiring about their white Iphone 4. The sales rep did not know that it will be available today as stated in their website.

I wasted my time going there and the people from that business center didnt even know any information about its exact arrival date.

Good news. Guy’s I’m sure when you get this iPhone 4, you want to maintain it’s modern look or protect it from getting dirts, dust and scratch this summer in your hang-out. Now, why not try this cool oakley unobtanium case for iPhone 4,read more here:

Thanks Yuga and more power to you!

  17. wreek888 says:

Im sure those working in globe are the first one to have the white iphone, then sell it to friends an make a profit!

  18. Clyde says:

The difference in thickness is really felt despite being a mere 2mm only. I use a mophie juicepack for my iPhone 4 (bec we all know that battery life sucks) and when my friend and I tried to put her white iPhone 4 in it, it did slide down albeit a bit snug, but the port is not aligned rendering it useless. So yes, black iPhone 4 users who want to switch to the white one will have to buy a new set of accessories.

  20. chris says:

    Hi guys,

have a question, my dad bought an iphone4 recently in HK and found out the external speakers don’t work. i checked the mute switch, speaker phone (while in a call).. and it still doesn’t work. any ideas on the defect? where can i have this fixed?

everything else works well, hearing sound through the headphones works, talking on the phone works also, it’s just the external speaker that doesn’t seem to work.

is this a common defect present in iphone4’s or we were just unlucky to get a defective one?

    thanks for the input
