New 2013 Macbook Air gets Intel Haswell upgrade

Apple announced a refreshed version of their Macbook Air for 2013. There were no improvements on the design for the last 3 years although they’ve now introduced Intel’s lastest Haswell chips.

Probably the most disappointing is that the 11.6-inch Macbook Air remained with the same paltry 1366×768-pixel resolution (as opposed to full HD 1080p 1920x1080pixels from other brands since last year).

New 2013 Macbook Air specs:
Intel Core i5 Haswell 1.3GHz dual-core
Intel HD 5000 Graphics
4GB or 8GB DDR3 RAM
128GB, 256GB SATA SSD
2 x USB 3.0 ports
720p Facetime camera
WiFi 802.11 a/c
Bluetooth 4.0
Thunderbolt
Mac OS X Mountain Lion

The 11-inch model can be upgraded to an Intel Core i7 1.7GHz CPU, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD.

Here are the prices for each model/variant:

11-inch, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM: Php46,990
11-inch, 128GB SSD, 8GB RAM: Php51,990
11-inch, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM: Php55,990
11-inch, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM: Php60,990
11-inch, 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM: Php75,990
11-inch, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM, Core i7: Php63,490
11-inch, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Core i7: Php68,490
11-inch, 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Core i7: Php83,490

13-inch, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM: Php51,990
13-inch, 128GB SSD, 8GB RAM: Php56,990
13-inch, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM: Php60,990
13-inch, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM: Php65,990
13-inch, 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM: Php80,990
13-inch, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM, Core i7: Php68,490
13-inch, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Core i7: Php73,490
13-inch, 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Core i7: Php88,490

Battery life has improved though and the 11-inch Air is now rated up to 9 hours while the 13-inch Air can go up to 12 hours. This is mostly the benefit of the more efficient Haswell chips from Intel.

pag dating sa processing power, lamang lang ng konti ang Haswell sa ivy, pero sa graphics performance, medyo malaki ang angat ng haswell.

    manuel

malayo ang sandy sa haswell, malayo ang performance on both processing at graphics, di hamak na mas mabilis ang haswell.

Battery life kasi ang pinakamagandang improvement ng haswell, just look at MBA’s 12 hours of battery (wifi on).
