Ownership of Smart Bro canopy?
PLEASE HELP! I am an avid fan of your site for years now. I would like to ask a question because of a problem i had this morning.
It has been two years since I terminated my smartbro service. I had been a subscriber for about two years. I was a subscriber for about 2 years i think.
Just this morning, some person came to our house without presenting any identification and told us that he was getting the canopy. He did not present me with any letter or documentation that he will get it. He just had a list that included my name and address on it. I told him to present me with a letter that he will take it from me that I could sign after he gets it and he said he just had a list.
I am really unsure about who really owns the canopy after it expires but as I understand it after the account has been terminated, the peripherals are mine after the lock in period.
Please give me light on the situation. Was he just a scammer and should I let him take the canopy without any letter or signed document that he will take it?
If I remember correctly, the Motorola canopy that comes with your SmartBro account is the ownership of SmartBro and is only being rented out to you (tucked into the MSF).
SmartBro has dozens of contractors (3rd party suppliers) that deploys and install the canopy in the field. They are also the one who dismantles it after the contract period.
This is probably the reason why the person was not able to present a Smart ID. However, you will still need to ask for some sort of authorization from Smart before the canopy can be un-installed by any tech personnel.
