Asus Transformer vs. Apple iPad 2
Jamby Jambalos asks:
Abe, I’m torn between the iPad2 and Transformer…could you do a comparison between the two? PRO’s and CON’s maybe…. help is greatly appreciated. Tnx!
YugaTech answers:
Main difference between the two is that iPad 2 runs on iOS and Asus Transformer runs on Android Honeycomb.
Both tablets claim up to 10 hours of battery life but the Transformer comes with a docking port and physical keyboard that extends battery life up to 16 hours. That should be great for when you take long trips.
With the iPad 2, you have 6 options between WiFi only to WiFi+3G and storage between 16GB to 64GB. You don’t have that much option with the Transformer, specifically no 3G, just 16GB and 32GB storage options.
However, the Transformer has a built-in microSD card so you are able to plug in an extra 32GB additional storage if you really needed it. It also has a micro HDMI port so you can plug the tablet to a big monitor. The iPad has that feature but you need to buy an extra cable adaptor.
Of course, from the form factor side, the iPad 2 is thinner and lighter than the Asus Transformer.
Here’s the price list for the iPad 2 in the Philippines:
16GB WiFi – Php23,990
32GB WiFi – Php28,990
64GB WiFi – Php33,990
16GB 3G+WiFi – Php30,990
32GB 3G+WiFi – Php35,990
64GB 3G+WiFi – Php40,990
Here’s the price list of the Asus Transformer in the Philippines:

Php30k @ 16GB with keyboard

LikeDislikeOkay i will just point out what i can for my IMO
iPad 2
For now you can only enjoy iPad 2 in iOS Version 4.3.3, Why? so that you can Hack it. Or if you can buy expensive apps in iStore then go buy iPad 2 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G but for i i only prefer iPad 2 Wi-Fi thats what i got and i got a 4.3.3 and still have lots of fun on it. Then there is another reason why i bought ASUS Trasformer right now i dont have it yet cause when i ordered they said to me it was 32GB then when they call me they were selling me the 16GB so i ask for a refund but they told me they will get the 32GB but in the case of ASUS Transformer i love what Almost all Android Tablets do when it comes in Movie Playback first of all Large screen and wide not like the iPad 1 or 2 Large screen but it has 4:3 Aspect Ratio in ASUS Transformer 16:9 That’s like watching in Cinema but in a Tablet, Second in iPad’s Watching Video are just not that great even when you use the most codec App there is like AVPlayerHD still not that great. In ASUS Transformer for what i seen in my friends its kinda Easy Transfer and not Storage issue because of the USB Ports in does area ill go in ASUS Transformer Movie and Sync access but in iPad’s iTunes its kinda hard for me but in application go for iPad if you have a Hack iPad but then again in Android you really don’t need to Hack your Tablet to install some cool games a-like in iPad. so there are still areas that need to be seen in personal opinion.
For me i go ASUS Transformer anytime of the day. iPad just a Large PSP for me different games. And another thing iPad vs ASUS Transformer in Browsing iPad win anytime cause of its coding iPad Load full desktop version in almost all android i see they load mobile over desktop even if you set it up as a default.
Why i don’t like iPad 3G? Easy in short they suck big time no Joke really bigtime
i wasted like 1000 pesos for sim cards and i still get betting internet in a ad-hoc laptop with a Wireless Broadband. so in General if you can be as Knowledgeable i think you can outsmart other people in buying stuff. Example
64GB 3G+WiFi – Php40,990 Vs. 64GB WiFi – Php33,990 That is 7,000 PHP more do you know that Android Phones can Share there 3G Connection. and some Android Phones are Cheap like 7k Under so that in mind if you buy a 3G+WiFi over WiFi for some people they can get iPad + Android Phone. so in this case its a Big win for you you can compare which is better in application.
Why some people say there iPad 3G connection are great yes some time but not all the time and some people say iPad has the Fastest 3G Connection only one thing i will tell you Go read more in Yugatech’s Review you might learn more.
