Gadgetverge audio Xtreme hands-on

There is an abundance of Bluetooth speakers on the market already, but this one we’ll be checking today has its own gimmicks. Meet the Gadgetverge audio Xtreme, a Bluetooth speaker with a suction cup, aluminum carabiner, and its own microphone. We took it out for a little spin, and here are our thoughts.

The Xtreme Bluetooth speaker has a simple overall design with a smooth rubber finish that’s nice to the touch. It is, though, the kind of material that doesn’t age well, so we advise to handle this one with care as the rubber will degrade badly over time. It’s small, light, and easy to carry especially when paired with the aluminum carabiner. Overall, you’ll get a pretty handy audio companion that looks simple and is nice to hold, if taken care of.

The structure of the Xtreme is pretty straightforward. The buttons (Power, Pause/Play, volume rockers, and answer call) are at the top while the speaker itself is located at the bottom along with the slot for the suction cup. On the left side is the micro USB charging port.

The suction cup is strong enough for the speaker to stick to any glass surface, but is still easy enough to remove. The same goes for the aluminum carabiner. Its sturdy enough to hold the speaker when attached to bags or any other material. Then again, the speaker does have just the right amount of heft. Apart from that, it’s a rugged speaker, hence the ‘Xtreme’ tag. It has an IPX7 water resistance rating and a shockproof and dustproof tag, allowing users to take it on a hike, to the pool, or even to the shower.

Audio-quality is just about average at best. The highs and mids are present and okay, though lows are a little bit lacking. Clarity is also only average at best and can get muffled at max volumes. It can get loud enough to fill a small room but lower volumes are pretty underpowered. Call quality is good and we were heard just fine on the other end, so the mic will suffice for standard calls.

The Gadgetverge audio Xtreme is certainly an interesting speaker. It has a lot of flexibility, a simple and clean design, and a rugged body. Its gimmicks are also rather helpful and a welcome addition to the package. While audio-quality could be better, for the price of Php 799 it’s a good pick for an affordable rugged audio companion. The speaker is now available at Widget City (see listing here).
