LTFRB approves new lowered taxi flag-down rates

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved the permanent reduction of taxi flag-down rates nationwide (except Cordillera Administrative Region) to Php30.

The new flag-down rate for regular taxis is Php30 and Php3.50 for every 500m or 90 seconds waiting time. For Airport taxis, it is at Php60 and Php4.00 for every 500m or 90 seconds waiting. Baguio City, on the other hand, will be Php30 at Php2 for every succeeding 400 meters and Php2 for the waiting time per 60 seconds.

“After carefully weighing and considering various socio-economic factors, the Board decided that the favorable effects of the steady and steep down-trend of crude prices which have a higher and direct impact to the transport sector being enjoyed by transport operators and drivers must also be passed on to the commuting public,” LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez said.

The lowered rates will be effective on March 19, 2016, Saturday. LTFRB has also scheduled the calibration and resealing of taxi meters starting April until June 2016.
