Apple doesn’t want my 20 bucks!

One of the reasons why Apple didn’t really open up iTouch 3rd-party apps to the public was because it wanted to make money from it. This was made clear when it recently introduced new apps like the Mail, Google Maps, Stocks, Weather, and Notes then charged early adopters $19.99 for it.

It’s no wonder majority of iPhone/iPod Touch users resort to hacking/jailbreaking (including me) their units just to get their dose of app-nirvana. But then, I also like to have the native apps. So, when version 1.1.3 came out, I updated the software on my iPod Touch hoping I could get the new apps and shell out the needed $19.99 for it.

iTunes Store

Turns out Apple doesn’t like my $20 bucks because I’m in the Philippines. iTunes does not support this part of the region. My guess is that it’s still partly due to the fact that Asia (in general) is a high risk fraud region (on credit cards).

So now, Apple doesn’t get my 20 bucks. I don’t have my new 5 apps and we’re both at a loss.

P.S. If you really want an iTunes account, you can follow this hack on how to go around the regional and credit card limitations.

I guess they refused your $20 because you continue to murder their product’s name.

It’s iPod Touch not iTouch.. It’s like calling the iPod shuffle — ishuffle.

      Just kidding, Sir Yuga.

Have you tried buying an iTunes Gift Card instead? I read somewhere (can’t remember where) that iTunes Gift cards are usable in countries where the iTunes store is not available.

Although, I don’t know if you can use a gift card to buy the 1.1.3 update, it might be worth a shot?

Uhm…from what I’ve read on Philmug.ph you can get iTunes GC at http://ituneshop.net but for now they have limited stocks so better reserve one it comes on $20-$400 GC and you can use it for getting the January Software update. Guys from Philmug.ph solve the upgrading problems by buying GS there and use it to upgrade iPod Touch. Or get iTunes GC on ebay or from http://feedback.longbeard.info/

by the way I’m not promoting piracy and such but if they don’t want your 20 buck then its better to use an alternative way to get those apps.

By the way, Apple’s Firmware V2 for iPod touch won’t also be free.

And if you want 3rd Party Apps on you iPod Touch you will need App Store which is included in the next upgrade and its not free.

By the way, stupid question! won’t our local apple store upgrade your iPod Touch for some fee? Instead of doing it online?
