iPhone Philippines : for sale Php35,000

[tags]iphone in the philippines[/tags]

iPhoneCalling all Apple fanboys: the Apple + AT&T iPhone is now on sale in the Philippines. All for a very low, low price of Php35,000. No 2-year contract needed. I can hook you up if you’re interested.

No kidding. This is serious. Just learned about this last week-end. Apparently, some very enterprising Filipinos bought several iPhones in the U.S. and shipped them all here. It costs $499 & $599 there so a local price of Php35,000 seems very reasonable. Even for just a glorified touch-screen iPod video, it’s still cool. I think I’m gonna pick one for myself. Anybody else?

hmm doesnt make sense to buy an iphone that doesnt work now when you can wait 4 months and buy an iphone that will work.

besides, theres a huge apple event next week here :)

I think the price is OK for a WiFi terminal. Note however that YouTube does NOT work without AT&T service.

    4. Gravatar Icon yuga replied on Aug 9th, 2007 at 1:45 pm (4)

I think it will work as a phone in 4 months. In fact, I bet the US version and the Asian version of the iPhone will be the same. No hardware difference.

The only thing that will trigger it to work as a phone is an OS update. Meaning, they can ship the same phones they sell in the US and sell it in the Philippines. Once Apple releases the new software that will unlock it, the iPhone will be open-line.

So, between now and 4 months, you get a glorified iPod video. Once they officially launch it 4 months from now, just update it with the new software release and use it as a phone.

There’s no need to wait. Buy now! hehehe

Somehow I don’t agree with Kuya Abe (hehe feeling close…). I bet that the US version of the iPhone will not work without any hacks.

Imagine if it will be unlocked only through an OS update, it will mean that those in US will also easily unlock their iPhones away from AT&T.

    11. Gravatar Icon yuga replied on Aug 9th, 2007 at 6:21 pm (11)

I believe an OS approach to to unlocking the iPhone is a much, much cheaper alternative for Apple than a hardware one.

When the 60GB iPod video came out, it retailed for Php33,000. And people kept on buying them. The iPhone is way cooler than that, justifying the price.

It is actually more probable that the versions of iPhone to be released in Asia has a different hardware (making it work with other simcards) as compared to the ones available in US.

And if it is just software, it should have been already cracked by now.

    14. Gravatar Icon randy replied on Aug 10th, 2007 at 5:43 am (14)

the iphone 06 US version is tied up with At&T USA for whole 5 years-both apple company and ATT wont screwed up each other by allowing apple company to release its “asian” version nonetheless the “any sim” iphone . . its a multi million investment and these 2 companies are serious to do business together. cracking the iphone to enable it to receive any network sim is possible. Php 35K iphone is cheap considering you are getting it right in the phils, that is if its true.. 4gig is $499 and 8 gig is 599 here plus tax….

iphone is revolutionary in terms of touch screen technology and its internet browsing. i have one now-i got it yesterday and hooked it with prepaid At&T network…very cool… smart fon in a new whole way…

i am going back to the phils next week and i will terminate the service and swill till enjoy the upgraded ipod features…but the phone and sms.

guys, you might as well one for you now. dont wait til they drop the price because it wont happen. knowing the apple company, they will just take the unwanted stocks to the recycling and shoot…recycle it.

      all the best,
      stan

Went inside an Apple store yesterday. They had like 10 iPhones on public display and most units had someone or a group of people looking at it and trying it out. I didn’t go there to buy an iPhone. Hehe I was just showing the iPhone to my wife and father-in-law who also happens to love gadgets. :)

slightly off topic… but anyone in the US who owns an iPhone would have noticed that Philippines is not even in the drop down selection for country when entering an address for a contact…Like it matters, a future update can probably fix that…but just my observation. :/

      8GB Behold the iPod Touch!
Posted Sep 5th 2007 1:43PM by TMZ Staff
      Filed under: Z-Gadgets

Apple has just announced a brand new, full touch-screen, Wi-Fi enabled iPod. Gadget geeks, start your engines!

The new iPod Touch will come in 8GB and 16GB, with prices of $299 and $399, respectively. The new Touch will also feature a Wi-Fi music store for downloading your tunes directly to your iPod. Sweet.

Other big Apple announcements today include: The iPhone is now $200 cheaper (8GB version for $399), the regular iPod (now the iPod Classic) is now $249 for the 80GB version and $349 for a 160GB version, and the iPod Nano now has a video screen — $149 for the 4GB, $199 for the 8GB.

I still wanted the 8GB iphone, better than ipod touch.. $399

Cause my sister gonna buy me an i phone and i dont know what benefits if i have it in here?. Or should i say it will work here or does the AT&T exist in here in the philippines to subscribe to be able to work in iphones. I wish it will clearly clear up my questions. Thx guys!

HOWTO: UNLOCK YOUR IPHONE from scratch and get youtube

      [NOOBIE EDITION]

      Needed:
      wInstaller
      iBrickr
      PACAY by brasuco (newer)
unlock.pxl (included one is modified with the faster iUnlock)

      AVAILABLE HERE: http://www.sendspace.com/file/7phdz9

      1. Plug iPhone into iTunes (Keep original ATT sim in the iPhone) - Wait Till iTunes Recognizes it.

      2. Hold On and Home Buttons Together for 20 seconds until the Yellow ! Triangles Appears

      3. iTunes will say it found an iPhone that needs to be restored, click ok and then click restore. iTunes will then download 1.02 (or check to see if its on your machine) and update your iPhone. Wait till its finished.

      4. Run wInstallerGUI.exe and click Jailbreak (it will jailbreak your phone) - close wInstaller

      5. Run PACAY’s (CLICK HERE) activate.bat

      6. Run ibrickr.exe and choose Applications (it may have you set it up the PXL).

      7. In ibrickr -> Applications -> Install from PXL

      8. Choose Unlock-fast.pxl

      9. Let it do its thing. Your iphone lock itself when its done.

      10. On the iPhone: Settings -> GENERAL -> Auto-Lock -> NEVER

      11. Turn off iPhone Completely (hold on/off then slide the bar) - Turn it on again

      12. Run the Unlock App.

      13. Click Start

      14. Let it RUN!!! It will tell you when it is “Complete”

      15. When its done, Exit the program to the Springboard

      16. Eject your simCard slot and do a Full turn off (hold on/off then slide the bar).

      17. Put in your new simCard and turn the iPhone ON!

      18. Run PACAY’s activate.bat AGAIN (fix youtube again)

      19. Run iBrickr again Applications-> on the RIght hand side on the iPhone thingie, click the minus next to unlock to uninstall it.

      20. SETTINGS -> GENERAL -> NETWORK -> EDGE (ENTER YOUR EDGE SETTINGS)

      DONE!

Hi Guys How can U unlocked the Iphone it says there 1. Plug iPhone into iTunes (Keep original ATT sim in the iPhone) - Wait Till iTunes Recognizes it.—>>> but our iphone doesnt have a sim, you cant even put any sim on it even at&T ..so Im confused now , are there new models which you can put sim card. Mine doesnt have only by connecting it to i tunes…Please someone clear my confusions..Thanks

    52. Gravatar Icon Paul replied on Sep 24th, 2007 at 3:14 pm (52)

no you dont need to have at&t sim card to unlocked it, who the hell said that….
what you need is a software to unlocked the iphone. itunes is just to restore the iphone then proceed to the unlocking process. now if you phone is new that says in the screen activate the phone dont mind itunes and just use the software to unlock it.

if you want instruction here it is.

      http://cre.ations.net/creation/ibrickr

      check that site out…

there is more that need to be done after you jailbreak the activation which is the coding.. and you have to use putty software for that.

hinding hinde magkakaroon ng iphone dyan sa pinas, kase nga exclusive sila for AT&T, bago ka makabili may 2yr contract requirement… mga urban legends and chismiss lang yung mga naririnig nyong magkakaroon ng iphone dyan sa pinas… unless magtatayo ang AT&T dyan… kaya wag na kayong umasa… i know this for sure because i work here in the marketing department of APPLE….

P35,000 are you f***ing serious …iphone doesn’t cost that much. you’re practically selling the damn phone for about $775 with out warranty. its a rip off! it also prabobly made in china. you gotta lower the price bro! you’re ripping everybody off. Give it 1 more year and iphone price will be half of what it cost now or prabobly be free with a plan. I can’t believe you peeps that you would actually buy a phone that lacks 3G tech., only has 2MP Camera, cannot make video call etc. I have freinds here in US who actually bought iphone and after a couple of months they were envying my phone(N95). Lets put it this way Iphone is cool to have but it aint worthy.

P35,000.00!! What a crock of sheeeeehit. When it comes to pinoys, harang talaga.
Just wait folks, just a little more. Thru official or legit channels, the iPhone will arrive and will sell for P22,500 to P27,000 only.
Some predict it to be a flop in the Phils because the Phils historically hasn’t been Apple country and is on the pricey side. Well, they couldn’t be more wrong. First of all, it isn’t expensive and the iPhone being a wonderful seemless device, people in the Phils will eat it all up. But then again, if not, better! For there won’t be a supply shortage and the price will go down if there is less than expected demand!!! Peace!
