twittering on mobile can be cheap already. you can use a local service like twi2948 or rather use MIMs/mobile apps or IMs that connects thru gprs/wap.

@pay: Globe? Hmm, I’m on Globe and had my twitter mobile SMS update activated. The activation is not free (for you need to text some code to a UK number) but the mobile updates are free. Just don’t post via SMS since it will cost you P10-15 per 140 characters. It’s cheaper to go 3G as compared to SMS (in posting) but, it’s a lot cheaper to go for Smart’s 3G/GPRS than Globe’s.

I actually share the opinion of Abe. When I started seeing Twitter on the blogs I regularly read (not via RSS for these blogs), the first question in my mind was “if I will use Twitter, then there’s no point in keeping our blog!”

I really don’t see why a blogger should use twitter. Sorry, but until I read a very convincing opinion about the advantages of twitter, I won’t even sign-up to their service, unless otherwise I’m forced to just to leave a comment (if they have that feature).

It’s cool. One liner updates.. but… nah… I don’t want them to waste my bandwidth just to read my twitter.. :p

Anyway, I really don’t see any use for it :p convince me I’m wrong :p

there are no charges on mobile updates. it’s free! i have a friend on Smart Prepaid and the only charge was the activation fee, around P10-15 (SMS to UK).

That’s the problem with SMS alerts here in the Phils. EXPENSIVE …

If you’re using a Globe line it’ll be MUCH MUCH cheaper if you receive the alerts over GPRS. 15cents for almost 1000 letters?

It’s not that hard actually. Heck I think I can create the server and the client(j2me) application in just under an hour.

Exactly, isn’t that what IM custom status message is for?

Afterall, I don’t want strangers to know what I’m doing .. .and almost all my friends are in my IM buddy list anyway.

But of course, if it really does help in the search engines … then maybe … just maybe …

Never was an active Twitter user, partly because I can’t get it to work with my Google for your domain-powerd Gtalk account.

I find the idea neat, but to actually have a discussion or chat session on Twitter, for me is quite nuts.

What’s the IM clients are for?

I think you got #2 the other way around. With Twitter, you have a status message that sticks around even if you disconnect from the Net.

I’ve been twittering almost everyday, and it’s fun!!!! It gets you updated for the people you are interested on and fast.

On twitter, people really doesn’t care about privacy at all! In a way, it’s very very very interesting.

same here, i was surprised when I Googled myself and a twitter post was included in the first page of the result. also, it functions like a newsfeed or “gimik feed” – you get to receive updates from all of your contacts. lastly, it’s like a “public chatroom”.

Twittering can help provide additional exposure and traffic for new bloggers and their blogs.

A one-liner intro for your latest post can bring in traffic if it’s intriguing enough.

Hmmm… no time to Twitter? If there are ghostwriters, could ghost twitters be far behind?
