Hi guys!

Im a web programmer, and lately theres this feeling burning in me, that i want to leave something in the philippine internet that people will love, or find useful. This is one of them, i wanted to create a website that will aggregate blog post and simulate how digg.com does their ranking.

I’d like to spend my spare hours for this, since i lack the money to upgrade my PC for starcraft 2, id rather do this now, before somebody else does.

Unfortunately, im currenly working on some web system for another company, afthis this, ill get my hands working on this one!

yugs, What script (PHP and MSQL) could I use to publish a website similar to pinoyblog.com where anyone can post a summary of their posts and give them an incentive of a link back. I guess pmachine’s Experssion Engine is not free. Can I use wordpress? How? thanks.

I also think classification is a great idea.
A tech section, political, personal, humour, etc. would make everyone’s life easy.

The current first-come-first-serve listing method do have its merits. You get an appreciation of those who avidly posts on their blogsites.
And where blog ‘quality and content’ is a subjective matter, a ‘quantity’ measure, imho, is not too bad.

It would be a great innovation if the listing would be based on the quality or currentness of the entry and not merely on whose first or last, this w/o saying that some other entries aren’t good enough. But your new ideas seem good and refreshing…

I honestly don’t like the way it is right now. I see the same posters over and over again. It’s not even aggregation … it’s a contest on who can post more. I only go there for the blog spotlights instead of the same blogs who constantly grace the front page. I’m glad you are rethinking the whole idea. Good luck with the development.

i have subscribed to pinoyblog (via bloglines) a while ago. to be honest, i think it is too much material coming in. so i would agree with mikey that having some sort of a classification system would be useful, all the more as one may assume that the number of entries will grow as we go along.

Alam mo Yugs… if you can turn pinoyblogs into digg/delicious/technorati philippines, you will be considered a god in the Pinoy blogosphere, if you are not that already.

Either that, or Pinoys should make a concentrated effort to invade these systems with our ideas and links, so we exert influence instead of the other way around.

When Pinoy Big Brother premiered, “Pinoy Big Brother” made it to #2 on Yahoo’s most searched term. The problem I see is that we just don’t cooperate with each other. Look at my Pinoy blog. Most of my readers just fight each other — and I have nothing to do with it. It was like spontaneous combustion. Anyway, that was a bit off topic.

Yes, we’ve been trying really hard to segragte posts via categories. We’re also contemplating some sort of a tagging system like Del.icio.us.

Basically, it provides pinoy bloggers an area where they can get mnore exposure for their blogs. Everyone wants more traffic right?

That used to be the original idea. But, not all blogs are able to ping. RRS aggregation is also an alternative. The problem here is SPAM (see Google Blog Search) and scalability (see Technorati).

2. What is the advantage/s of joining pinoyblogs?
3. What other (popular) site/s is/are similar to pinoyblog?

It’d also be nice if you could come up with some sort of classification system. Sorta like ‘Entries from Political Blogs’, ‘Entries from Entertainment blogs,’ etc.

That’s just me anyways. I’m big on organizing data.

That’s a great idea Abe. That would enable us to view outstanding posts from otherwise obscure blogs. This will also be an incentive for us bloggers to improve our content.
