Yes, you heard it right. It’s teh one and only Happy Slip. Filipina internet celebrity Christine “Happy Slip” Gambito is in the Philippines (and may I add, also the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards winner for Best Podcast). Props to the Department of Tourism for sponsoring her 2-week full expense paid exploration of the Philippine islands. Anton of Our Awesome Planet is cooking up something on February 7. See her video announcement here and check Anton’s blog for more details and further updates.

If you feel that the previous Search Engine Marketing Conference (SEMCON) was too expensive for you but still very interested to learn more about internet marketing, then you might want to attend the Internet Marketing Bootcamp this Saturday.

Just a quick update on the upcoming sessions for the “Blogging for Money” seminar series. This one is for intermediate and advanced bloggers.
Attended a media lunch last Wednesday to witness the donation of Nokia Philippines to the Text2Teach Project which is spearheaded by the Ayala Foundation, SouthEast Asian Ministers of Education Organization-Innotech (SEAMEO-Innotech) and Globe.

The MBS just started here at the NCC Mall in Davao City. Great crowd. More pictures after the jump.
Interested with what Nokia is bringing this quarter? Tech bloggers are invited to join the Nokia Mobile Mix Event this Friday, October 26, 2007.
This is actually a similar event I attended last time in Singapore (Nokia: Go Play). The media roundtable will be held at the Fiama Bar, Jupiter Street, Makati City at 11:00 in the morning. Leave a comment if you’re interested in attending this event.
I’ve been tapped by a group of entrepreneurs to do a series of seminars/workshops on problogging. Here’s a copy of their invitation and schedules for those of you who are interested in the series.

Will be on air, live tomorrow at UNTV. Call time is at 6:30am (yeah, too early for me too!). That’s Channel 37, right?
Will be guesting on ANC’s The Explainer with Manolo this Tuesday, 6PM to share my thoughts about the NBN Project. I wrote some of the underlying technical issues (politics aside) over at PTB and wanted to solicit more of your technical opinions on the matter.
This is an open invitation for everyone who has a stake about the FOSS development in the country. Check out the schedule for the roundtable discussion after the jump.

I’m sort of gonna be busy in the coming months. Here’s a list of talks and events I’ll be attending so if you happen to be in any one of them, don’t forget to approach me on those dates.
Pinoy.Tech.Blog just turned 2 years this week. I remember that time when I first met with the team members of the group blog and go on beer-drinking + tech talk for hours every month.
This time around, we’d like to celebrate it with all our readers. So, if you have spare this this week-end, why don’t you drop by and have a beer or two?

I’ve been invited to speak at the first media convention series by the Jesuit Communications in Ateneo along with fellow bloggers Manolo Quezon and Prof. William Yu CISS (Yam, haba na ng name mo bai! :D). The seminar series will start on August, every Saturday for 4 weeks and is geared towards non-profit organizations and individuals.
I’m posting the announcement here. Maybe someone might be interested to attend this series:
Note: If you are a first time visitor of this blog and want to know more about the Mel & Joey Episode on Blogging, please read this: Welcome Notes to Visitors from Mel & Joey Talk Show.
We wrapped up the longest interview I ever had last night, just before 10PM. The interview, which lasted about 2 hours, was for a feature on Mel & Joey about blogging as a career or an alternative source of income. I’m sure the final results will not be any longer than a couple of minutes when it’s aired so I’m curious which takes made it to the final cut.

The last time I had cameramen visiting my place for an interview was for ABS CBN’s coverage of the new Apple Macbook launch (and why it’s so blogging-friendly).
This one is a little more thorough as they also asked me to tour them around the house, show them stuff (esp. the gadgets) and take an hour or so of footage. So, if you’d happen to see that segment, I’ll tell you offhand that’s not what my pad usually looks like — it’s always messy. They also want me to spill the beans, esp. on the revenue part, so I just point them to the recent poll we just had the other week.
Btw, If my voice sound a bit weird, that’s because I’m still a bit ill with a clogged nose.
Update: Looks like J. Angelo is also in it.
Aileen Apolo is organizing a blogger meetup/party sponsored by SM Hypermarket. For this event, she’s allowed to invite 100 active bloggers in the Philippines for a night of free food and drinks (and hopefully take home give-aways too). I was requested to invite “10 tech bloggers” via YugaTech.
Here are the details:
What: SM Hypermarket Invites Bloggers to get a “Taste of Asia”
When: July 3, 2007, Tuesday, 7:30 pm
Who: bloggers of any size, age, status or whatever
How: Just leave a comment on my blog or any of the coordinators blogs
Why: To get a “Taste of Asia”
Where: Taste of Asia (beside SM Hypermarket), SM Mall of Asia
The first 10 tech bloggers to sign-up and confirm their attendance will have a sure slot. For more information, email Aileen or leave a comment on her blog or text her.
If you are an interested advertiser, I’m sorry but it seems this is a locked-in event exclusive only to SM Hypermart. We’ll organize a proper Blogger Party later on.
Got this from the guys over at Ogilvy some 3 weeks ago but forgot to post about it.
A new competition has just been launched in The Philippines- “Nokia N95’s Wireless Adventure” - The search for The Soul of the City! Prizes up for grabs include a Php50,000 cash, a Nokia N95 and trip to Amanpulo.

The competition is more like an Amazing Race of sorts that will get you thru the busy streets of Metro Manila, paired with a celebrity and finding clues for each quests using the new Nokia N95. Now, that’s where you’ll be needing the phone’s GPS tracking system.
They have the same contest at Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. You will need to register first and pray hope you get selected on May 18, 2007. Race day will be on May 26 to 27, 2007.
Almost forgot that it’s already the iBlog 3 today. If you haven’t heard of it, go check it out and visit the venue. This is already the 3rd year and it seems like just a while ago that JJ Disini, Connie & I first met at a resto in Marikina to talk about plans for a Blogging Summit back in 2005.
Anyway, I will be there tomorrow (2nd day) to talk about some blogging success stories for around 20 minutes. It won’t take long though I would have wanted to give more time on discussions so that attendees are able to share their opinions or ask questions.
Apologies to those who came in today and went looking for me. Got your text messages and missed calls. Will see you tomorrow. ![]()
