Michael emailed me about his new link list of Top Philippine Blogs based on Alexa rankings. His list included three of my blogs — #1 Yugatech, #2 Motorcycle Philippines and at #15 PinoyTechBlog.
We’ve already discussed before why Alexa isn’t credible in tracking the visitor reach though at one time I suggested that it could be used to check your blog growth. Still, I think there are some benefits to this, not only in the virtual world but in the real world as well.
The other day, I visited the office of Solar UIP after they invited me for a meeting for a possible partnership. Apparently, they’ve been scouting the web for top websites with demographics they think are within their target market. So, for their upcoming movie Transformers, we’re going to do some online marketing over at Motorcycle Philippines (bikes == transformers?).
When I asked why they wanted to do such campaign they replied that as the authorized Philippine theatrical distributor, traditional tri-media campaigns are a standard and saturating the new media is the next logical step.

TRANSFORMERS? Go Autobots!
I’d like to see how this goes. I hope they can give us some facts and figures after their campaign.
If they can arrange a blogmeet just for this event (free screening for bloggers) I’m sure the internet will be flooded with TRANSFORMERS post.
yep, jun is right, in that, if they ever want to have a wider coverage, they can invite bloggers all over for at least a 1-day meetup… parang press conference…
Yup yup … I agree!
Afterall, when it comes to new media … there’s “more than meets the eye”
damn ! swerte mo ! I’ve been a fan of the transformers for the longest time and even just to set a meeting with people associated with the screening would be a ultra high.
Anyway, it’s interesting how they approach advertising the movie. I wish more outfits of any industry would think the same.
Kudos to you for being the “chosen one”.
So did they tell you what is range of Alexa Rankings that most bigger companies look at, everybody knows below 100K is good, but did they specify any raw data…? Congrats!
Thanks,
Ahmad

Alexa is great for fooling newbies that you are a giant popular website.
