In my travels abroad in the last three years, I’ve gone thru dozens of airports and only a few of them are really what I could call “blogger-friendly”. I think airports should have free wifi as part of their standard service to travelers.
So which airports are really blogger friendly? My top picks are Hong Kong International Airport and Changi International Airport in Singapore.
The Hong Kong Int’l Airport has free wifi all over the place, has a number of easily accessible power sockets for plugging your laptop and the departure gates are also open so you can surf all you want before boarding. There are also computer kioks with broadband internet you can use if you don’t have a laptop.
On second is Changi Airport in Singapore with free wifi but not so many places to plug in your laptops. The Wireless @ SG service now require visitors to sign up before getting the wifi service (the registration form though is confusing — couldn’t figure out the format for the required mobile number field). The departure gates are also separated from the shops via security gates. There are quite a number of PC kiosks around with internet.
The NAIA 2 terminal could have made it as a runner up had their so-called free wifi was working. At least, they now have that exclusive desk for laptop-users to use for re-charging. There are about 5 PC kiosks (probably sponsored by Samsung) which promises free internet use (though there was none when I tried using them).
I remember the Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta International Airport also had free wifi but power plugs are sparse. The Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand is also nice but free wifi is spotty.
To the frequent blogger travelers out there, which other airports do you think are blogger-friendly?

the Taiwan airport has specific spots with free wifi and free computer terminals but you have to go near those spots to get the free wifi, finding plugs are no problem as there are plenty near the seats. oh and dont forget the planes with plugs for laptops in economy
Didn’t notice that when I went to Taiwan a couple of years ago. Maybe I just didn’t have enough time to check them out.
The Malaysia airport also has free wifi and free computer terminals. But the connection was slow and some of the free desktops weren’t working.
I don’t think Charles De Gaulle, Paris Airport and Fiumicino, Rome Airport have free wifi access because I tried looking for a hotspot but didn’t detect any.

I didn’t notice free wifi and free computer terminals in CDG Paris and FCO Rome so a good book will be your best bud in case you get stuck in these airports.
NAIA 1 has free wifi in the paid lounges

Mactan International Airport in Cebu offers free WiFi courtesy of SmartBRO. One outside the coffee shops and the other at Gate 5. Both have power outlets in case you need them.
Istanbul airport was the best for me, it’s the fastest I’ve ever tried. The airport is huge but there’s no dead spot. But the downside is I didn’t find a dedicated spot where i can plug my laptop. What I did, I plugged my powercord near the LCD TV hahaha….
Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok might come as a runner-up. the connection is good, i.e., legit wireless high broadband speed, however, you should know where to find it. It is usually located near the check-in gates or near the VIP lounges.

HKIA WiFi was free only recently – last year? Before that it was very expensive.
My favorite is Ben Gurion, near Tel Aviv. They don’t have much power outlets, but they have always been available.

there’s free wifi sa NAIA too. well last time ive been there i got to go online using my PSP.

There’s a FREE WiFi at the NAIA Terminal 1, if it is online. Otherwise, go to the Sampaguita Lounge (entrance fee required), enjoy the complimentary soup and sandwiches, and unlimited WiFi.
