Hi everyone. Three times na akong kumuha ng dost travel clearance. Most recent is this month (August) for graduate studies. Two years na akong employed so DOST made some re-computations as to the amount of bond I had to post. Yung other trips ko, wala akong binayaran. You can check what I did here http://dosttravelclearanceetc.blogspot.com/. Hope it helps

Sheila, I wonder why ganun ang case mo. What I understand is that as long as you work in the Philippines, that is a return of service. I was a scholar before {undergrad} and had my scholarship terminated because I flunk some major subjects. I called them up and I was told na wala na ko obligation sa dost. When I took my NBI clearance {for abroad} di naman ako nakahold. if you still have the contract, basahin mo sya. I think you can plead your case and emphasize that working in the Philippines is a sort of return of service.

Just in case somebody (DOST Scholar) wants to finish his bonding contract and wants to get their DOST-SEI FINAL CLEARANCE you will be needing at least 3 weeks to get it... well based from "our" experiences.

Find out what are the requirements need by reading my ("our" stories rather) story by clicking this link or just copy and paste this URL:

some co-scholars and I had a talk about NBI clearances, departures, rendering, etc... ang info sa'min is kahit kelan mo ibigay ung certificate/s proving you have rendered your service as long as kumpleto is pwede. ex: 4 years kang hindi nagparamdam sa dost, pero after that, magrereport ka sa office nila and hand them your certificates :D ...pwede ring paunti-unti. ex: 1year kang nagwork tapos pwede ka ng magbigay ng certificate sa kanila para parang installment. to-follow na lang ung iba :D ...new subject -- so sad kasi may kakilala ako na 2 years nyang ngamit ung scholarship and yet after 5-7 yrs, never xang nagreport ulit sa dost and now she has gone to abroad. tsk tsk. i wonder if dinodouble check tau ng dost...........

I have the same problem with the clearance too.. though i have gone to the nearest DOST office..

I was a DOST scholar (3 yr course) and after 2 yrs of enjoying the scholarship nag leave ko for 1 yr... after 1 year di na ako nag report sa DOST...

2yrs plus na since nag leave ako... I have enjoyed the scholarship for 2 yrs and have been working for 2 yrs plus...

do i still need to pay the bond if ever i have plans in working abroad?

thanks! this is very helpful, but i failed to report after failing a subject, so i guess i'm in a big mess. been working for Four (4) years now, would this be enough to get me a clearance considering i was only a scholar for a year.

Securing a clearance with DFA was very tedious for me. So be at DFA early in the morning. If youre lucky enough to complete the application process within the day, you can get the clearance the next day.

The same is needed. However, you may be asked to place a bond. It used to be Php20k-50k, depending on the years rendered.

How about clearance for traveling abroad but still has an obligation to render service, any ideas how to secure a clearace / do I have to pay penalties? As far as i can remember it was stated in the contract that I have to pay a bond... but could be reimbursed when I returned. Any enlightenment? :-)
