In the past years since Microsoft Vista was rolled out, it suffered a huge PR problem with perceptions of being too heavy on the system, buggy and annoying. I've been using Windows Vista on my laptop for a year now and haven't had any problems with it actually. If MS can learn from their mistakes with Vista, Windows 7 might turn the tides around. First, let me state that I'm a Windows XP fan myself and I was frustrated that my recent laptop purchase forced me to go with Windows Vista. The vendor says they no longer offer XP bundled with the new units and there's no option to downgrade from Vista unless you buy your own XP license and install it yourself. The main problem I had with Vista is that it's slow and 1GB of RAM just wouldn't cut it (I decided to ramp up the memory to 4GB).
