Feedburner now counts Rojo & Google Reader

Listen to article

In the last 3 or 4 days, I’ve seen a bit of a steep increase in my total Feedburner subscriptions (actually, 60+ in the last 4 days). I wasn’t sure where’d the new subscribers were coming from but was surprised today to find out that Feedburner is now able to count Google Reader subscribers.

However, when I checked my Feedburner account, it was Rojo that was showing more than 1 subscribers and not from Google Feedfetcher.

Feedfetcher is how Google grabs RSS or Atom feeds when users subscribe to them in Google Reader or the Google Personalized Homepage. Subscriber counts include Google Reader and the Google Personalized Homepage. Feedfetcher collects and periodically refreshes these user-initiated feeds, but does not index them in Blog Search or Google’s other search services.

The official Google Reader blog also confirm this development.

So the Rojo bug has been fixed. The Feedburner blog mentions that Google Reader counts will start reflecting on the 17th, so I guess we’ll see a little bump in RSS subscription count this afternoon (I noticed that the feed counts are refreshed around 3PM, Manila time).

I use Rojo… I don’t know anyone else who does! I thought Six Apart was going to kill it off but it just had an upgrade.
