Last week, Nokia BetaLabs announced a new service called Nokia Email. This is push email just like those of the Blackberry or Apple’s MobileMe so expect this to be a premium service.
I’m trying it now and if you’re interested, Nokia is allowing sign-ups during the beta period for free. It’s only limited to ESeries and NSeries handset with S60 3rd Edition OS.
This means you can get your GMail, Yahoo and other emails pushed into your phone almost immediately (there were reports by others that there’s a slight delay).
This, on top of Nokia Ovi and the Nokia Music Store, makes you realize that Nokia is slowly becoming an internet company rather than just a handset manufacturer.
Take note though that you will be charged separately by your wireless provider (for 3G connections). And since this is push, you’re virtually connected to the net 24/7 which could be costly for time-based charging. this is one of those times when KB charging is cheaper and makes more sense.
