I’ve just been asked to do a talk in Legazpi City next week (Friday to Sunday) so I’m curious about the state of the city right now. As far as I know, the Bicol region was hit the most by the recent typhoon Milenyo (aka Xangsane) so I’m not sure if things are okay down there. We’ll fly there so travel issues aren’t a biggie.
Will internet be available? Maybe even just Smart GPRS?
Anybody from Legazpi or neighboring areas here care to share how’s everything down there, internet-wise? I was calling Gloria of Daragang Magyon but I think even cellsites there are still down up to now.

Sounds a little sinister, who knows what kind of hell you might find when you step off the plane - go prepared to rough it but I am sure you will find some really good photo ops.
Yeah, Globe Innove’s service in Legazpi is already restored. I don’t know with other providers.

Yeah, fortunately, Internet connections were up three days after Milenyo made a surprise visit. Unfortunately for us though, ’cause we have to troop back to work sooner

i guess ok na sa legazpi ang internet. though intermittent ok na dito sa sorsogon eh. smart gprs ok na ok even right after milenyo.
well, last week i went to catanduanes and legazpi city was totally wipe out by lahar floods i dont think so that they can recover with in months.

Im heading to Legaspi in Febuary to visit my sponsored child. Can anyone tell me if you think there will be electricity by then. Do you think it will be safe to go?
It depends where your sponsored child is located. As of today, 60% of the city is already energized.
