The media has always been the watchdogs of society and of the people. But the bigger question that has lingered for so long is — who will watch the watch dogs?
Blogs.
It’s the bloggers that expose cases of plagiarism in the newspapers as exemplified in the latest Yema fiasco of Inq7.net. Now bloggers are the ones explaining to Inq7.net what’s the real story of that Google bombing for “pekeng pangulo”.
Then, there’s Philstar apparently using the keyword “Pinay” to lure more visitors into its online newspaper. And while cause oriented groups and bloggers like Jonas San Diego are rallying the words “Filipina” and Pinay away from sex-related sites in the search results, old-timer Philstar is using the same keywords into luring more traffic to their online newspaper.
So, is PhilStar is now targetting dirty old men from the west looking for mail-order brides as its regular subscribers, huh?
Shame.

Nope, but one of my staff got your phone call and told me about it.
