Google will pay you $1 for every new Firefox user?

Listen to article

While I was reading more information about the recent launch of Google AdSense Referral program, I came across their November News bulletin which I will quote below:

Spread the word while increasing your earnings through referrals

With our new referrals feature, you can increase your revenue while increasing your users’ awareness of useful products and services. By adding a referral button to your site, you can direct users to sign up for AdSense and monetize their web content, or to download Firefox with Google Toolbar and improve their web browsing experience.

While your users learn more, you can earn more — US $100 for every new AdSense publisher who earns $100 and up to $1 for every new Firefox user.

You can begin referring users immediately – just visit the Referrals tab within your account, choose the product and the referral button you like best, and add the associated snippet of code to your site. Specific instructions for adding a referral to your site can be found here.

In bold, mine. I highlighted the new FireFox users part because it really got my curiosity there. Is Google planning on something that they’re willing to invest $1 for every new Firefox users? Some anti-M$ tactic perhaps? Interesting.

Hi Janet and Fleeb,

Apparently I heard that this Firefox referral program is only available to publishers in the U.S.

But I guess they will soon add some more tabs in there (more Google products/service on affiliate marketing).

I think they are doing some sort of project that will utilize Firefox.

I’ve been asking friends to download and use Firefox. Now, I’ll be asking them to go to my site and click the link to download Firefox

Hi Yuga. I can’t seem to find the Firefox referral link. Can you give more info, if possible? Thanks!
