Apple definitely switching to Intel.

Listen to article

Apple has used IBM’s PowerPC processors since 1994, but will begin a phased transition to Intel’s chips, sources familiar with the situation said. Apple plans to move lower-end computers such as the Mac Mini to Intel chips in mid-2006 and higher-end models such as the Power Mac in mid-2007, sources said. Official announcement is on Monday.

Full story here.

Hopefully, this will make Macs more affordable. But, will it be as desirable?

You should check out folklore.org, they have great stories there on the development of the mac from apple folks.

Felt like I was reading the script of pirates of silicon valley. :-)

Hmm, there’s a big risk alright. Not only in terms of software dev shift, biggest factor would be the attack of the clones (pabor nga lang sakin un! muwahahah)
kawawa rin ang mga merong IBM-pow by that time comes
Anyhuu, looks like kuya abe is really doin’ his research on Mac, and tanong ng bayan bibili kaya ng Mac si kuya abe?
abangan ang susunod na kabanata. hehe.
(BTW down mysql sa freehost ko huhuhu, makiki-ride ako sa ploghost para safe lagi ang site ko, nyahahaha!)

It should be something for us Filipino’s to be proud of, whenever we boot up a Mac… given that Intel produces processors here :-)
