WordPress.com offers Paid Blog Upgrades

Listen to article

Wordpress Upgrades WordPress.com has finally found a way to monetize its free service, though not in the way that I would have expected it. Still this move looks pretty interesting a model to watch out.

If you login to your WordPress.com account, a new section will appear aptly labeled Upgrades. This new feature allows you to buy credits which you can use to upgrade certain features of your blog. Currently, upgrades can be had in batches of 15 and 25, each credit will cost you $1 each and payable via Paypal (non-refundable).

The only existing upgrade option available now is Custom CSS (cost: 15 credits). This upgrade allows you to add custom CSS to customize any theme on this current blog. This is recommended mostly for advanced users who understand CSS. (more…) This means you can practically use any available theme out there (as long as they are pure css and no other required plugins).

And so we thought that this feature will soon become a default feature for WordPress.com, much like what Blogger is currently offering. This is just a one-time upgrade but still the $15 (or 15 credits) can make you think twice thrice.

What a stuff of un-ambiguity and preserveness of valuable familiarity regarding unexpected feelings.
