Google buys IM client Gtalkr

Google TalkOf course, it’s still unofficial but their website now displays a short goodbye note:

Thank you for your interest in Gtalkr. Unfortunately, the Gtalkr instant messaging client is no longer available. The Gtalkr website has been taken down while we pursue new projects as Google employees. Thank you to everyone who tried out, regularly used, and supported Gtalkr. Here’s a list of alternate clients to be used to connect to the Google Talk IM service:

In bold, mine. If they’ve been hired by Google, that would mean they were acquired. Same thing happened to Jeff Veen when Google bought MeasureMap 3 months ago. Michael Arrington has the scoop here.

      I wish they would buy YehBA* … it’s would be a nice competitor to Yahoo! Go.
