Intel releases Moblin 2 Netbook OS

Listen to article

It’s still an alpha version but Intel has already introduced the Moblin 2 Netbook OS.

The custom Linux flavor was developed and intended to run on Intel Atom processors (reason why Intel is trying to push it to market, via Ars).

You can grab a copy of the OS and download it from the repository (here).

Download Squad says the OS boots in just 15 seconds.

Question is — do people need another OS for their netbooks? At least it’s free.

If it says “15-second boot-time,” why not?

And why not get an Intel OS for an Intel CPU?

I Wonder how it would work on a eee pc, I have installed some Linux OS’s on it before and did not have the best success with them.

Yes we need it. better to have a standard amidst all the Linux flavors. The question: will it invite virus writers?
