It’s all official now. Google has sent out invitations to the January 5, 2010 launch date of the Nexus One Android phone.
When it first leaked out, I wasn’t too excited about it because of a couple of things — that this isn’t the first Google Android (the G1 was), that there are other similarly configured Android phones in the market (HTC Hero, Motorola Droid) and most especially that this isn’t really manufactured by Google but instead, by HTC all the same.
Still, the Google Nexus One is a looker with the promise of the better and sleeker Android 2.0 OS. The specs in itself is drool-worthy.

All these for a suggested retail price of $530. Not bad at all considering I bought my HTC Hero for $642 last month.
The other rumor that was going around before was that Google wanted to sell the Nexus One at cost for just $200 and will take profit from the use of Google services, apps and other content. That would have been awesome but did not materialized.
Nevertheless, The Nexus One deserves a good stare and people are excited just because it’s Google. If it starts selling in the US for $530 on January 5, I think you can order one and have it shipped to the Philippines all for under Php30,000 (taxes, custom duties and shipping included — see here how). Hopefully, I can grab a unit to show and review, assuming I have the budget.

An Android based phone or iPhone for 2010. What’s its gonna be?
Android is fast catching up. But iPhone’s app store is just too much to let go.
looking forward to this as well.. But adroid doesn’t have a lot of apps compared to iPhone!

Right now,It’s really hard to compare the unit with other Droid phone unless your a Google employee and tried the phone.

Apple should upgrade iphone or else they’re in trouble.

Google will ship this outside the U.S. That’s what’s making me pretty excited about this phone. Hopefully I could beat Abe into getting it first. LOL!
I might change my phone this year, and this one easily falls in my shortlist, barring negative reviews, of course. I hope this beauty is going to be worth the price since the biggest draws for me are its connectivity features and 5MP camera.

Wow! Now i do not know which one to grab – a motorola milestone (better known as droid in the states) or this one. I’m leaning on the Milestone because of the QWERTY but trouble is, I think motorola phils is non-existent here in our country.

i still prefer the motorola droid bec. of the hardware keyboard, virtual keyboard ftl!
Nexus one doesn’t have draft-N at the moment. For those looking for a physical keyboard — swype and shapewriter are good virtual keyboard alternatives.
Been using Motorola Milestone (GSM version of the Droid) for more than a week now, and its been great. It’s snappy as it is without the Snapdragon processor, and really easy to use. However it in itself isn’t perfect.
Hopefully, the introduction of other wvga devices like milestone such as nexus one and xperia x10 will fix the screen resolution issue.
Google needs to get beyond their normal utilitarian design ethos and go bold and colorful with the UI on these phones.
