Quiapo DVD on Google Maps

Not sure how Google moderates contributed entries (or POIs) on Google Maps but it looks like the strip of pirated DVD stores in Quiapo got thru.

This was shown to me earlier by Art Samaniego of MB on his HTC Magic.

google maps

I did the same search on my iPhone 3G and it’s also there.

    ^^

Because they’re prolly too busy locating for the source.

    OR

They pity the ones who sell them (because if they do catch these peddlers, they’re not big fish anyway)

    OR

They’re patrons themselves (c’mon as if naman wala talagang kumukuha ng kahit isang kopya ng DVD na nasakote nila, di ba? ^___^)

Nasa Elizondo Street ang maraming tindahan nito. Lagi nang na-reraid yan pero hanggang ngayon nandiyan parin. Mahirap na yatang mapigil yan hanggat maraming bumibili ng kanilang mga produkto.

hmmm… piracy is a very big problem not only here in the phils but worldwide.

IMHO… pirated softwares are great for testing or patikim purposes only since some of the demo softwares lacks some awesome features.

much better if you will feel the full software capability before buying one. ehem ehem! wahaha!

It’s funny that the only people who does not “know” about Quiapo DVD are the people in govt and law enforcement. :-)

Map data from google maps comes from google mapmaker contributors, If the place is in the correct spot and information provided is correct it will likely be added.

Moderators are local experts they are ordinary google users like you and me who logs in to mapmaker.google.com all day, might be ur bored neighbor or wife haha…

They are the one’s adding those places, streets, or buildings near the your area (e.g quiapo). Unsung heroes of Philippine geography, making our lazy asses lazier.

There is an option in mapmaker w/c Area you choose to moderate (e.g again quiapo area), you can approve and mapmaker will gather your response together with other moderators who approved it.

If more local experts on that area confirms the place, it gets published on mapmaker first then after further confirmation it goes to google maps.

Mapmaker is map making in a collaborative way, our keyboard and mouse will shape what our map will be.

Kung mura ang original dvd movie at software, walang bibili ng pirated.
Protektado ang mamumuhunan pero ang consumers hindi, sa mataas na presyo.
