The camera uses a new 66.8MP full-frame Exmor RS CMOS sensor paired with the BIONZ XR2 processor. Sony says the camera supports up to 30fps continuous shooting, 8K video recording, and improved autofocus tracking with AI-based subject recognition. The Alpha 7R VI also introduces a new NP-SA100 battery, a 9.44-million-dot OLED viewfinder, and support for Sony’s Camera Authenticity Solution for image verification. Alongside the camera, Sony also introduced the XLR-A4 XLR adaptor for professional audio recording with support for 32-bit float recording.
