Nokia 5800 XpressMusic announced

Earlier dubbed as Nokia Tube, the just announced Nokia 5800 XpressMusic may appeal to many Nokia fans with its touch screen interface that comes with a pen stylus.

Here’s what Nokia fans will get with the release of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic:

3.2 inch touch screen display (640×360)
3G/HSDPA 3.6Mbps
GPS with Nokia Maps 2.0
WiFi 802.11 b/g
3.15MP autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual flash (2048×1536 pixels)
secondary camera for video calls
Pre-loaded with an 8GB microSD card (max 16GB)
81MB internal memory
Proximity Sensor (auto turn-off)
Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate
Handwriting recognition
Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
Stereo FM radio with RDS
TV Out
3.5mm audio output jack

Nokia 5800

Surprisingly, the price $392 is pretty attractive (just around Php18,000) considering you also get the 8GB microSD card in it.

What’s more surprising is that Nokia is also introducing the “Comes with Music” in this handset — that’s 12 months of free unlimited subscription to the Nokia Music Store.

Not only is the Nokia 5800 a potential iPhone-killer, it’s more like an iTunes-killer too. See Nokia PR page.

  17. Gravatar Icon chet replied on Oct 5th, 2008 at 8:03 pm (17)

di naman siguro aabot ng 30k.. kasi it’s a question of availability eh… pretty much yung globe predominantly one of the official retailers ng iphone 3g kaya yung iphone 3g subject to overpricing… yung 5800 naman, ang daming potential retailers niyan (Nokia Store[dapat naman], memoxpress[official retailer siya.. nasa box ng most nokia phones], etc.)… so no need to rely sa mga mobile networks gaya ng globe. the only thing to worry about is yung taxes na idadagdag pagdating dito…haha

  18. Gravatar Icon jm replied on Oct 5th, 2008 at 8:05 pm (18)

nasa 20K lang yan naka subsidize kasi yung iphone kaya wag nyo i compare dun retail price na nya ang $300+ unlike iphone eh 199 naka plan

‘Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.

In response to your inquiry, please be advise that Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is not yet officially launched in the market. There is no confirmation when will be released, however, you may try to check from our Nokia website or you may call Nokia Careline from time to time.’

i read two comments from this site, the one said nokia is for Pinoy and the other one Pinoy is an mimick genius, consolidating the two idea, nokia is definitely defines a Pinoy considering it imitates the iPhone features though not all but mostly.

I was in Nokia showroom last week and asking about this gadget. They said it will be available, probably, this coming January. Unfortunately they have no idea yet about the price. I guess it will not be 18K pesos. I personally wondering why all gadgets in Pinas are more expensive than in US or Euro or Singapore. I bought laptop Vaio VGN CN 590 in US just 1.000 dollars but in Pinas it is 79K. Sobra. Likewise when I bought Canon S5Is, it was just 350 dollars in US but 27K in Pinas. I am still waiting for this cute Nokia. Regards!

Everythings great, wla ka masasabi as long as you know how to manage it, kalikutin mo lang he2. kaya lang wla pa yahoo go. sana magrelease sila and hanap ka ng good video converter to watch movies. you can store&watch lots of movies he2. inet connection, bilis din, talo pa iba pc gaya ng acer one he2.

From touch screen to perfromance at lesser price and size. baka di ka makatulog sa kakakalikot to know all the features. sad to say, nokia video converter doesn’t work properly, you’ll need a good converter he2. sana magrelease ng yahoo go, wla na ko mahihiling pa he2

sorry single_joy, d2 sa dubai q nabili. pag may relatives ka or kakilala d2, pabili ka nalang pag di mo maantay release dyan. wla daw release ang hungary or finland ng 5800. lahat daw china, 1 color palang available d2, red.

  43. Gravatar Icon rik replied on Dec 21st, 2008 at 5:14 pm (43)

mid or end of january daw launch sa pinas, pero ang release baka end pa ng january. mag-ingat po sa pagbili, kasi may lumabas na na fake, dual sim ang fake. halos di mo malalaman if fake sya. para makasiguro, buy po kayo sa mga official dealer ng nokia with warranty pa. di ko lang sure if supported na ng mga network natin ang 3g ng 5800, sana nga po para may silbi 3g he2. 3g is working fine d2 sa dubai, kausap ko fam q dyan sa pinas, n80 gamit nila, 5800 ako, no hassle.

  44. Gravatar Icon rik replied on Dec 21st, 2008 at 5:44 pm (44)

i still prefer nokia 5800 kesa samsung omnia. cguro dahil din sa features, i’ve tried some samsung cp ng mga kakakilala ko, wla pa nakasatisfy sa kin, madamot ang samsung thats what i call it, kulang kasi lagi sa feature, sorry. if you want a better phone, check mo n97, kaso wla pa sa market, mid 2009 pa yata he2. the only cp that you can compare with 5800 now is iphone. i’ve compared it too, kaso mas prefer ko pa 5800 in general even though i’m an avid fan of apple, sorry for me, can’t afford the price he2.

  45. Gravatar Icon simple bachelor replied on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 2:49 am (45)

  46. Gravatar Icon rik replied on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 4:20 am (46)

dubai ko sya nabili. expected release price sa pinas nasa P21K yata & to be released around end of january, speculations palang to, mas maigi siguro if wait mo nalang lumabas dyan, depende din kasi sa tax na ipapatong. re: omnia, its more on a pda, not like 5800, is just a regular mobile phone with lots of features, except window mobile and yahoo go. for it’s price and features, it’s worth it. para makasiguro ka, bili ka na lang sa nokia official dealer. baka fake pa mabili mo. sayang lang pera mo. try mo din check sa mga dealers dyan baka meron na sila update.
