Nokia N96 now out and priced!

I’m a little curious that one of the most anticipated mobile phone from Nokia this year didn’t have a big splash of a release. I’m talking about the Nokia N96. It’s apparently out in stores since last week.

Announced in February, the Nokia N96 has a 2.8 inch display, 3G/HSDPA,  16GB internal memory, 8GB expanded memory via microSD, 128MB RAM, 256MB storage memory, an accelerometer, Dual ARM 9 264 MHz CPU, WiFi 802.11 b/g, 5 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, GPS, TV-out and FM tuner.

The price varies from store to store but suggested retail price on Nokia Stores is Php40,800 while other phone shops (i.e. Mega Exchange) are selling it at Php36,900.

Wow! That’s almost as expensive as Samsung OMNIA which is waayyy better.

I’m waiting for either Globe or Smart to announce the local release of HTC G1 though. T-Mobile just announced the release date for their part of the world.

I knew this would break my bank. But this is a good iPhone alternative.

Now, why the price difference? (one from Finland, the other one from China????)

@Jim - the Nokia Care warranty I guess?

Prices will drop soon, and you’ll find this phone in Greenhills for less than 40K as well. depend on the shop your buying it from. usually it will be priced higher on commercial malls due to high space rental.

Wait til next year and this phone would be like P15,000.00 na lang or less. Nokia phones depreciate faster than Ericsson phones.

been using the N96 and I must say i still like it better than the iphone and the samsung omnia primarily because of the presence of a keypad. iphone’s cool but not quite easy to use on a regular basis. the omnia looks nice but the windows mobile os is not very responsive even if samsung made it look prettier

same here. i never buy newly-released phones anymore. i usually wait 6 months to a year. by that time, their prices should have lowered and firmwares would be more stable.

How much is Omnia right now?

  12. Gravatar Icon Pogi replied on Sep 27th, 2008 at 3:04 pm (12)

The price is not worth it to buy. features may have been the same with previous s60 3d editions.

I can say that the designs of this phone is really not good. I tel you, if you use this phone on public, they wouldnt know that your phone has a price of 40,000.

Currently, n95 has the best design with almost comparable features with this.

    @McRye - Php34k for the 8GB Samsung Omnia and Php36k for the 16GB version.

i have been waiting this phone since it was announced last feb… right now, i’m still using my N92… just wanna ask if DVB-H of n96 is much better than n92.. how true that n96 aside from mobile tv set by network, can also access local channels like china phones?

God, Nokia keeps upgrading phones when you’ve bought their “NEW” Models.
I Just got a N95 a couple of weeks age and then a new line comes up. *sigh*
