RedFox WizPhone Android phone spotted

Listen to article

I didn’t expect local PC manufacturer, Redfox Technologies, to enter into the mobile market but it looks like they did — with this WizPhone Android phone spotted on their website.

wizphone

Not much is revealed about the specs of the WizPhone but the website indicates it will come pre-installed with Android 2.0. I sent a quick email to them asking for details about this upcoming phone so will be updating this entry once I get them.

WizPhone Android

A Red Fox smartphone?! We didn’t believe it until we saw it ourselves! And guess what? It’s an Android. It boasts a 3-megapixel camera, a micro-USB port, a resistive touch screen, and a music player. Of course, the WizPhone also has access to maps and useful office applications. –Techie.com.ph

I just hope this Android Phone is DUAL-SIM unit.
if so, then hihintayin ko nalang ito kaysa mag Cherry Mobile Eclipse ako.

It is the first for a Philippine manufacturer. It really does not matter what Android version this comes up with, and what quality this will have. Eventually, it will improve as time goes on.

Just support and buy it when it comes up lower priced than the Cherry Mobile’s Windows Mobile 6.5 Eclipse Phone at 9999 pesos.

Good thing if it comes with 2.0. The demo unit I saw only has 1.5. I asked the person in charge, and he said that Redfox will roll out updates. I am watching this unit too hehehe.

I am excited about this. I hope it’s cheaper because as you say, it’s made by a local company.

I have the same concerns with Android 2.0 though. It’s like Accel making soccer shoes. They don’t know what they’re doing.

Interesting. But Redfox’s local reputation for quality and service is a dubious, to say the least.

I’m waiting for the “surge” of Anroid devices from China. Huawei’s S7 was recently made exclusively available from Expansys.

@abeolandres Looks neat. O.O I’ll probably get one if the specs are decent enough for the price.

@abeolandres 2.0?! Are they serious? The dev’t platform for that is obsolete already. Least they could do is bump it up to 2.1.

You could also ask them why they’re coming out with a 2.0 instead of a 2.1 phone. From the developer’s point of view, 2.0 has been deemed obsolete already. For the user, this could mean that some apps on the market might not work on 2.0 since there’s a chance the developer would no longer test their apps on that version.
