For those who are interested to know about this phone, it is being used by the trialists of M1 Singapore, the 1st mobile phone operator in the country to roll out the 3.5G HSDPA there and Samsung had sponsored the Z560 for them to test it out.

There is this interesting and pretty comprehensive evaluation by one of their trialist who has blogged his experience on the Z560.

http://samsung.vintedge.com/z5...p?u=ultra135

He or she is even comparing with Nokia N70 and there are other interestings facts like Bluetooth, memory card, etc. Cool !

Seems that he or she is adding more before the trial ends in mid January.

[...] If them telcos can easily snag new customers by bundling cellphones with postpaid plans even at very expensive plans (Php5k a month and up), it’s also possible to bundle laptops with the same postpaid accounts. Globe tried it last month with a ThinkPad + HSDPA Card + Samsung Z560. I suggested they could do this on a permanent basis. [...]

[...] I don’t have an N95 yet. Nobody has, at this time. Do I want one for my birthday? If I can afford the $700 (or more) at that time. (What will N95 pricing in the Philippines be?) I hope the camera is better than the N80’s. The GPS would be useful for building a Manila map, if only you could carry this safely on the street. If only there were a local Nokia Blogger Relations Program. Would I be on it? I’m sure Abe would - an operator already gave him a review handset. [...]

Hi Yuga thanks for testing it out. So it looks like something's wrong with the phone's Java implementation. Hopefully the Opera developers do something in their next release or this gets corrected in a firmware update.

Another thing I noticed, the battery when drained takes about 3 hrs to fully charge. & the battery life is only about 2 days. Network mode is auto though so the phone switches between GPRS, EDGE & HSDPA frequently depending on my present location.

Hi Robert,

Yes, I did try to download it Opera Mini and I got the same error as you did. Funny though that all installations are placed in the File Manager inside Games section.

The Gmail Mobile client I installed didn't work either.

[...] Globe gave us a couple demo units of the new flip-top Samsung Z560, dubbed to be the first HSDPA capable phone in the country and probably in South East Asia. The unit was aimed at heavy users and individuals who wants fast mobile connectivity to the internet so they’re bundling it on several packages, one of which includes an IBM laptop on a monthly plan.
If that's a autofocus camera, then it competes against Nokia N73.

About the Globe Hub: I wanted to buy a Globe-locked unit but the only offer prepaid phone kits for low-end phones.
