Asus ENGTX280 with NVidia GTX280 Chip

Listen to article

Got a package from Asus yesterday containing a box of motherboard and their new graphics card, the Asus ENGTX280, powered by NVidia’s GTX280 graphics chip.

Will all the other spare parts I have in storage, I should be able to build another rig with these (Asus M4A79T Deluxe Motherboard) although I’m still stuck with how to properly benchmark the video card.

There’s already a newer graphics chip from NVidia (GTX 285 and GTX295) but the GTX280 alone already costs over Php20,000 in the market. Here are some basic specs of the Asus ENGTX280:

NVidia GeForce GTX280
Graphics Memory: 1024 MB GDDR3 (2,200MHz)
Core Clock: 670 MHz
Shader Clock: 1460 MHz
Dual-DVI
PCI-Express 2.0
HDTV-out
D-Sub
HDCP compliant

To those who have a budget for a 20k gaming card, you think this is a worthwhile upgrade?

Nice Performance than Nvidia’s previous flagship card. I had be more enthusiastic about this card if the software was available to take advantage of the new features.

This is by far the fastest single GPU solution available in the market. You won’t go wrong with it :p

i agree with Reinzy :)

as for 20k..i think you could probably get the GTX285 for that price..or try the GTX260 which is somewhere around 15k..konti lang difference in performance accdg to most reviews

Only if the rest of my system could match the performance of the video card.

Well, in my opinion, the real question to ponder first is what model/kind of graphic card do you have right now. If it is only a generation or two down and was on the mid to high-end range, then the upgrade could probably wait. The last two generations of video cards that were released are still powerful enough if you ask me.

Call of Duty 4 is always a good game to put that card through its paces.

Php20k for a graphics card? I’d get a Nikkor lens instead. ;)
