Acer Timeline 1825PTZ gets priced

Listen to article

Acer’s Timeline series has had a tablet version for the 11.6-inch version (1810TZ to 1820PTZ) and the model is now selling locally for a suggested retail price of Php37,500.

The CULV category of Acer is carried by their Timeline series in the 11.6″, 13.3″ and 14.1″. We have a review of the Timeline 1810tz and when it because available locally, it was selling for as low as Php26,900 in stores (although the silver, Olympic version is still selling for around Php35,000).

The Acer Timeline 1825ptz is basically almost the same in terms of specs and only differ due to the tablet form factor (that one where you swivel it around and use a stylus with).

Acer Timeline 1825ptz specs:
11.6″ display @ 1366×768 pixels
Intel Pentium SU4100 @ 1.3GHz Dual Core
Intel GMA 4500MHD
2GB DDR2 RAM
320GB HDD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR
Gigabit LAN
5-in-1 card reader
3 USB 2.0 ports
HDMI port
6-cell Li-ion 5600mAh
Windows 7 Home Premium

The minor difference between the non-tablet version is the 320GB HDD (vs. 250GB). The retail price of Php37,500 may suggest why the non-tablet model (Timeline 1810tz) has a surprisingly cheaper price.

Forgot to say… battery life is excellent with Wifi switched on… am doing 6+ hours at least right now. So I have used it in tablet mode for reading ebooks, web browsing, etc over the holidays. With the 4GB memory, I am able to run VirtualBox running Ubuntu (with my work tools running), Android-Froyo and WinXP virtual machines with the host Win7 64-bit still usable for web, e-mail and some MS Word work.

How does the battery life last on 1825ptz compared to 1810tz..? does it still give the same result having the touchscreen display..?

This is a definitely a good buy. This is not an ultra speedy laptop (not netbook slow though) but hey it’s got a two-point touch capacitative screen and got enough disk space. It doesn’t come with a stylus though. I’ve been using acer for years now and I’ve got 2 units already. So far, I’m a happy customer, especially with this machine :)

Hi,

How’s the handwriting recognition and palm rejection? I’m choosing between this, the lenovo ideapad and if I get kuripot bigla, the Asus EEE. But I watched a video earlier that the Asus doesn’t work too well given those 2 issues. Just wondering how this works as a tablet. Thanks for your reply.

Renee

@darkgame

the intel CULV processors are way faster than their ATOM counterparts.. check Abe’s review of the Acer 1810tz. It’s basically the same machine but this one converts into a tablet.

@Ryan Ang

Thanks for the suggestion,

The thing is
Intel Pentium SU4100 @ 1.3GHz Dual Core of acer
VS.
Intel ATOM Processor N470( 1.83GHz 667MHz 512KB )
of Lenovo

Which is better?
i think that’s were the last thing i’ll research before doing the decision..

@darkgame

that depends really on how you will use your machine. If you need more power then the Acer might be better for you. The extra real estate might also help.

I guess Lenovo if you want portability.

I was really waiting for this one to arrive or at least be available somewhere. The handwriting recognition of win7 is just astounding not to mention that this is a more capable machine than the Lenovo S10-3t.

But just got an iPad so i’m just hoping for a great journal app to be released soon. (as consolation haha)
