With close to 30 different models for their Eee PC line, Asus is still on the roll and will soon launch the Asus S101 Ultimate Eee PC.
The new S101 Eee PC will ship with the latest Intel Atom 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, a 32GB or 64GB SSD, 10.2″ display screen and still weigh less than 1kg. of course, pricing will be greatly affected by the bump in SSD space — that’s $699 and $899, respectively (via).
With close to 3 dozen models in the EeePC line-up, I think Asus is already spreading the Eee brand to thin. The netbook models comes in various sizes from 7 inches to 10.2 with slight variations in storage and memory. The price points alone are too close to make distinctive a choice.
I believe that at the end of the day, the model that gives the most favorable price point (balance with the size and specs) will emerge as the top choice. All the rest will only gather dust in the shelves. So far, the Asus 901 is on top of mind.

I think the 10 might be better cause of the keyboard size
*sigh* I really wish Asus stuck with their initial success on the EEE and developed on that instead of trying milk the market. The ‘netbook for everyone’s budget’ seems novel but they’ve taken it too far.
How much work can you really accomplish on such small sized laptops without getting tired eyes.
I would personally use the cheapest model and only when traveling to access the net and maybe revise a document but not for anything else.
i wonder why the trend hasn’t caught up here (US). i saw one, one store that sold the asus eee. and they don’t like the eee that has linux, they put xp on it. they’re doing a bad job marketing the subnotebooks here. most of the people i know are happily married to a mac.
even if they up the memory, i don’t think it will be practical to get one when you can have a 12 inch laptop with complete specs and optical drive for the same price. what’s the advantage if not just the weight?
I’d rather wait for the Lenovo Ideapad S10, starting at $399, I think it is more economical.
I’m quite sure they’ve made it clear that these will not be included with their EEE range somewhere…
@Lucien, yup I heard about it too but the leaked pictures of the Asus S101 had a logo at the back saying Eee, in stylish letters.
Oh well, you know ASUS… They say one thing and then do something else. They never did release a $300 EEE PC. Not that I’m looking for one, it’s just that the entire product line is starting to move away from it’s original design. Don’t you think?
