Benq Joybook U101 Price: Php23,900

Spotted at Electroworld MOA, BenQ’s Joybook U101 is on display from the shelves. BenQ announced their own netbook last September 2008.

The specs are basically the same as earlier reported except that the default memory is just 512MB. The one I spotted looks like the 10.1-inch model.

looks good except the RAM… 512MB as default is no longer attractive.

I think it looks good. But because of the RAM, I think this is a poor competitor. There are lots of competitors out there that has better specs than this. If they want to make this computer more attractive, they need to improve its RAM. 512MB is no longer attractive.

The BenQ Joybook lite U101 comes in either blue or black color. it comes with a reversible (black or purple) sleeve also. Presently there is an ongoing promo – free 1 GB upgrade thus making the total memory 1.5GB.

Now, it also comes with a 7-megapixel digital camera — So, with the upgrade, is it still a bad buy? I’m considering getting an HP or Asus because I need to get a small, light weight laptop for my internship in Vietnam. Which one would be a better buy?
