Globe offers Dell Netbook with HSDPA + GPS

Found this little pamphlet earlier today while paying my bills at one of the Globe Business Center. It’s a promo for a Dell Mini 9 with built-in Globe Tattoo SIM.

The promo is open to all Metrobank cardholders — a Dell netbook + Globe Tattoo Prepaid SIM (Php400 load) at Php1,279 for 24 monthly installments (retail price of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is Php24,599).

The Dell Mini 9 has the ff. specs:

8.9″ WSVGA display screen (1024X600)
Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz
Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950
1 GB RAM
8GB SSD
Bluetooth 2.0
WiFi 802.11b/g
Windows XP Home SP3
1.3MP webcam
3 x USB 2.0 port
10/100 LAN port
3-in-1 media card reader
4-cell battery
Dell Wireless 5530

When Dell launched the Inspiron Mini 9 in the Philippines, it never mentioned of the wireless 3G modem. Looks like the Dell Wireless 5530 is a built-in HSDPA modem that has GPS functionality. Obviously, this is a similar offer to that Asus Eee PC 904 GO from Smart (Php1,799/month).

These offers are quite popular here in Cavite, I’ve seen a couple of buyers here in Dasmarinas.

Though I’ve yet to hear of any feedback regarding the connection performance of Globe Tattoo in this area.

.Ngek! GLOBE (Dell), SMART (Asus) at SUN (MSI). Sige lang pabagsakan ng presyo lang ng service at promo!

Look how amazing this is? A great idea too, especially when you have a lot of LCD choices as of this moment.

i’m used to paying php 1,200 a month for a mobile plan with a cheap Nokia 6120 classic. So i think this is a fair offer. but maybe it’s just me.

They’re starting to promote that here in the US na rin eh. But you’d have to buy the laptop on a subsidized price first then the 2 year subscription (with 3 telcos). Tapos crippled software/hardware pa nakalagay, no wifi and such. This looks to be a much better deal.

This looks like a nice deal. Would you guys know if Globe Tatoo also caps torrent speeds to 20% of the subscribed bandwidth like Globe’s wired plans?

They just discontinues the Mini 9 so this offer sounds fishy :D
