The Gateway EC3801i is a 13.3″ laptop which has a similar specs and price point as the Acer Timeline. It also boasts of the same 8-hour battery life.

No wonder this dual-core version wasn’t being sold as an Acer Timeline. I was looking for it.

@Darren: indeed, multi brand conspiracy, just like IBM Lenovo, Fujitsu-Siemens, and HP Compaq.

I think gateway as is more heavy on hardware power than its acer counter part, it has a core 2 duo rather than just a core 2 solo.

for the brand conscious even if it has the same specs they’ll definitely choose acer

Specs are fine. But when prices border around the P50k mark, my benchmark becomes the macbook.

Kudos to the Gateway arm of Acer Philippines! :)
The company’s new releases are sure giving the competition a run for their money.

I saw their back to school laptops spread in SIP Mag at CBTL and the units sure look amazing.

I wish nothing but the best for Gateway and Acer Phils. I just hope that they would start to seriously look at tech blogs as a great advertising platform to hit their target niche.

Again, kudos to Gateway.

same with emachines, seems this Taiwan brand is buying the other small players around the Globe. Being under Acer, i guess the future of emachines, syling and the likes will depend on how Acer will perform.

Gateway is owned by Acer. Sister company rin nila Packard Bell sa Europe. Some Gateways are remarked Acers..
