Here’s another reason why Windows 7 is looking to be a better OS — I installed it on a touchscreen netbook (Gigabyte M912) and worked like a charm.
This netbook was running Windows Vista before it was upgraded to Windows 7. There was definitely some improvement in performance and the Gigabyte m912 was more responsive.
Windows 7 came with a virtual keyboard tool that floats on the desktop so you can just pull it out when you want to input come text. Windows Gadgets for memory monitoring showed 65% RAM usage on idle (for the 1GB installed RAM). I guess adding another 1GB stick would make this tablet run better.

nice nice. yan din problema ko if i want to type in tablet form. i had to use a separate software to activate a touchscreen keyboard.
Well, MS is touting 7 as having better touch functionality for these kinds of laptops, so it’s good to see it in action.
how did the installation process go? was it easy? i might install the beta too one of these days when i’m not busy.
Went very well actually without any problems. I used an external DVD drive to install the OS and took about 3 hours since I just left it alone.

Looks like Microsoft has done something good this time around.
If this would go on, Windows 7 could definitely renew MS and get rid of the curse of Vista.
hmmm, how about the drivers for the touchscreen? will they still work after the installation? that’s my main concern for the M912
Yup, all drivers were okay since I was running Vista before the upgrade.
Get temperature monitoring installed Yuga. When I put the Windows 7 beta on my M912, temps shot up after about 30 minutes.
BTW, that slide out keyboard is also, basically, available on Vista. Win7 just make sit a bit more present.
will Windows 7 beta run on a Pentium M 1.5ghz with only 224mb ram…
i have a computer with dual-core processor but i want to test it myself since my family uses the computer a lot, my big sister will complain if there’s an error and she would like me to return WinXP x64…
and i have no choice but to follow her, she’s in college and she needs a comfortable-to-use computer..
she even hates office 2007… because she is afraid of learning new things about computer..
she still prefer office2003 or officeXP
i hope Windows 7 will run on a Pentium M Laptop with JUST 224MB
a little problems with 7 ultimate build 7068, m912 won’t recognize as tablet pc..
any ideas?
