Lenovo announces ThinkPad X301

Listen to article

Lenovo Philippines announced today the release of the ThinkPad X301 laptop, an upgrade to the first generation Lenovo X300 originally introduced back in April this year.

Lenovo claims a 20% performance boost for the X301 due to the latest DDR3 RAM and the latest Intel Core 2 Duo ULV procerssor (Centrino 2). ULV or ultra low voltage CPUs have a TDP of about 10 watts. The X301 weighs less than 3 lbs. and only 0.75 to 1-inch thin.

The display screen is 13.3-inch LED backlit, options for a 64GB or 128GB SDD drive, up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM, WiFi, with processors running only between 1.2 or 1.4GHz since they’re running at ultra low voltage (6MB of L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB). There will be models that will include mobile 3G, WiMax and even a built-in GPS. No indication on battery life though.

Pricing for models of the ThinkPad X301 notebook starts at approximately Php128,100 in the Philippines and will be available by August 27, 2008.
