Microsoft Philippines should have that promo as well! but I’m currently happy with IBM’s Lotus Symphony (Beta 3 as of this time), OpenOffice.org, and other free and open source alternatives.

I’m crossing my fingers for this one. I’ve been using Publisher and OneNote for quite awhile and I’ve already found them indispensible and it will be probably a blessing if I can get my hands on an original copy at THAT price.

@Chino yray: I think that’s a given anywhere. Pirated downloadables on BitTorrent (et al.) come even from the West. The only difference here is that burned copies are available in markets.

Anyway, cheaper versions of original software are just like the movie industry’s strategy of R5 versions of DVDs. At least there is a chance someone would buy the original. IMO, no one here would buy MSO for PHP45k. But I’d surely like to have my own original copy if it costs dramatically less.

It’s because they know that when they release a cheaper version in the Philippines, the more the pirated versions will come out.
