Sony unveils Vaio M netbook

Listen to article

Sony Philippines unveiled several laptops yesterday including their new entry-level netbook called the Vaio M.

At first glance, the Sony Vaio M looks very similar to the earlier netbook they launched last year, which is the Vaio W.

Sony Vaio M126
10.1″ display @ 1024×600 pixel resolution
Intel Atom N470 @ 1.87GHz
2GB DDR2 RAM
320GB SATA HDD
Intel GMA 3150
3 x USB 2.0
Memory Stick Duo/SD card reader
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Blueooth 2.1 w/ EDR
0.3MP webcam
Windows 7 Starter

There were a number of significant differences between this one, the Vaio M, versus the Vaio W:

  • The chiclet-type keys are replaced by the usual island-type keys in the keyboard (a bit strange considering we often see Sony laptops having chiclet-type keys).
  • The Vaio M has a 6-cell battery capacity compared to the 3-cell on the Vaio W. This also makes the M a little thicker than the W.
  • The screen resolution was reduced to 1024×600 pixels from the nice 1366×768 on the W.
  • Faster processor, more drive capacity and faster WiFi.

The Vaio M is available in blue, pink and white and will retail at the same price point as the Vaio W (which, last time I checked, was selling for Php29,000+).

I’d rather get the Signature EA Series, it’s way more classy

Sleek and cute, I love it. I don’t think it’s too expensive considering it’s Sony.

i will still stick with my macbook compare to any sony vaio notebooks; their prices are not that far from each other, but the performance..mac is way ahead. (plus, not to mention that it runs on its own softwares. no need for 3rd party softwares). :D
