Someone asked to compare all the available ultra-portables in the market, especially the ones in the 7″ display. So we rounded-up four UMPCs — Asus Eee PC, Neo Explore X1, Astone UMPC and Deep Blue H1. See comparison chart after the jump.
The results of the comparison chart are pretty interesting. If you don’t place these cheap laptops side by side, you’ll never notice which model tops the scale.

Despite the unfamiliar processor in Via, the Deep Blue H1 and Astone UMPC gets you the best bang for your buck. The extra weight is obviously because of the heavier but bigger storage space on the HDD.
Hope the chart above will help you decide on your next laptop purchase.

hmmm.. Spec-wise and price-wise it’s Deep Blue. I just wish it came in white.
this is so helpful!
the deep blue h1 sounds interesting. but, where can i buy it in the philippines? i haven’t seen it in the PC shops in malls, even in MOA. do i have to go somwhere special?
PC corner, I think for Deep Blue. I pasted a link somehere in a previous post.
I suggest you guys wait for HP’s Mini-note with VIA’s Isaiah processor, CN. The current one they released comes with VIA’s C7-M processor running at 1.6ghz at most which is still not as good as Celeron-M running at 900mhz.
A couple of websites have pitted VIA CN against Intel Atom and aside from burning less battery power, VIA CN also provides roughly 30% better performance… And is also way cheaper. Meaning HP Mini-note will eventually overtake EEE PC on the performance to price ratio.
Deep Blue H1 looks like the clear winner here.
Abe, VIA is the best low-voltage processor n the market. A good number of high-priced portables use it.
tsk tsk now I feel bad for buying the Neo Xplore because of the Deep Blue specs. Anyway, Xplore has a card reader at the back of the unit. =)
pretty much, the h1 wins. extra lbs for HDD is not a big deal…
So any one here uses the h1?
When the Eee PC came out, it was admired for its portability and cheap price. Yes computing will never be the same again due to the Eee. But even the Eee can be used for evil purposes.

400MHz? fuhgettabouddit
is deep blue made in the Philippines?
m from cebu.. i want to but h1 too.. sama meron nyan dito..
Thanks for the round-up, very useful.
In my opninon the H1 is better, but if it’s about the weight, I’d rather get the Astone UMPC since it’s got more features.
i think i would buy either the blue H1 or the astone umpc; I still have to check the stores here in cebu; but i dont think they are available here in cebu. OR does anybody know if they are? (i dont have much time to go around kc, i am on residency training)
well…according to our store in PC Express alabang town center. we sold 20 units it all came back because client unsatisfied so slow and its not an international brand only assembled here in the Philippines….Where is Blue made anyway????like NEO????
Hi all,
I purchased a Deep Blue H1 (PCExpress). To tell you the truth, Linpus Linux pales in comparison to the eeePC Xandros Linux version (wifi problems using WPA, unusually long loading times randomly happening). This fault is due to Linpus itself (pretty bad configuration and apt4rpm repositories are not configured properly).
I re-installed using a Windows XP installer that was lying around unused (because my desktop is running PCLinuxOS) and suffice to say it works pretty well (the 1Gb RAM helps a lot for XP). It’s a wonderful secondary mobile computer. I also installed MSOffice 2003 as well and winamp.
Comparing linux to XP though, XP does run slower - as evident when I play videos (720×480 XVID HD) in both linpus (before I deleted it) and XP.
Typing this in the Blue H1 now. And yes, I chose this over the eeePC due to the specs/price configuration.
there’s a 60gb version of astone umpc now.
Thanks for your UMPC / netbooks posts, sir. They were of great help in my Blue H1 purchasing decision.
