The Asus N10 is not a 10-inch Eee PC

Looks like Asus has had enough of the Eee PCs (last count was 27 models). There’s some leaked details of a new high-end 10.2″ wide screen ultraportable going out their gates soon — the the shiny Asus N10 (must be Asus’ response to the MSI Wind and the Acer Aspire One).

According to French blog Blogee.net, the Asus N10 could be priced somewhere between Php22,000 to Php28,000 depending on specs (don’t forget to add 12% VAT!).

Here are some of the specs of the Asus N10:
10.2 inch display (1024×600 pixels)
up to 320GB HDD
WiFi 802.11 b/g
USB 2.0
Ethernet
Windows Vista or Linux

No additional details on which CPU type it will carry but it could be a toss-up between an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz or one of those Intel Centrino 2 ultra-low voltage (ULV) models. RAM should be somewhere from 1GB upgradeable to 2GB.

I guess Asus realized that their Eee PC line is getting a little bit boring and that MSI and Acer had a nicer design. Sometimes, whenever specs between two items are tight, it’s the design that makes the deciding point.

now why would you buy the 1000 if this is going to come out? hmm wait, the 1000 can have 1280×720 while this can only do 1024×600? what gives?

I’d go with the Lenovo IdeaPad S10. Far better and the design is just fabulous.

Slashgear found a review. The unit tested had an Nvidia Geforce 9200M and it ran Call of Duty 4! Hoorah!
