I also have a Configfree radar. It’s kinda useful. I have a Toshiba A80.

Btw, i saw a keychain-like device that can detect a hotspot in one of the chain of CD-R King. This might be very useful, so you don’t have to open your laptop to detect a wifi. Do you guys have any suggestion what brand should I buy?

Look closely at the right side of the picture. it says ConfigFree. That program comes with Toshiba laptops by default I believe. My 2yr-old A215 also has that.

For a similar program, you can use the Xirrus Wi-Fi Monitor. You need to have a sidebar though (easy for Vista, dunno for XP).

Lenovo also has this radar thingy which I think is easier to understand because they also show the percentage of signal strength. The new one is on a horizontal format but it’s still a bit similar to this:
