During the DEMO Conference today, a company named Always Innovating announced their own version of a multi-purpose netbook called Touch Book.
Although it’s really lightweight (lbs) and portable, the folded form gives you a thickness of about 1.4 inches. Here are the complete specs of the Touch Book:
8.9″ display screen @ 1024×600 pixels
ARM Texas Instruments OMAP3 chip
8GB micro SD card
WiFi 802.11b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.0
6 x USB 2.0
As you can see in the images above, the screen can be detached from the body/keyboard and used separately (stick it up to your ref and you have a fridge magnet). The processor, an ARM, is most commonly used in high-end smart phones and storage is only thru an 8GB microSD (you can swap for larger capacity).
It also has a 3-dimensional accelerometer and Always Innovating claims 10 to 15 hours of battery life. What’s most surprising is that they’re offering this at a starting price of only $299.

soo…. what OS is installed? i’m assuming the OS is built-in and not included in that microSD.
The os will be a modified version of angstrom linux. it will have a 3d touch interface for the tablet mode. as well as being able to have different os’s installed including Android, Ubuntu, and Debian.
