Voodoo Envy 133: Thinner than Air?

Earlier this month, HP announced the entry of Voodoo Envy 133 which was vying for the title of “thinnest laptop alive”. Thinner than the MacBook Air they say, at only 0.70″ at its thickest (the MB Air is thicker at 0.76 of an inch). HP spared no expense in making the Envy 133 a tough challenger to the Macbook Air.

And when they said tough, they’ve encased the Envy 133 in carbon fibre for extra strength. See our checklist below for the line up of specs:

envy 133

Intel Core 2 Duo SP7500/SP7700 (1.6 or 1.8 GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
13.3″ backlit LED display WXGA (1,280 x 800)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
64GB SSD or 80G HDD
802.11 ABGN + Bluetooth
Ethernet (LAN) Port, HDMI Port
Built-in webcam
1 USB 2.0 and 1 shared e-SATA/USB Ports
34mm ExpressCard
Backlit Keyboard
Multiple Gesture Touchpad
Proximity Sensor
Ambient Sensors
Dolby® Sound Room
External slot-load eSATA Super Multi drive
3-cell battery up to 3.75 hours, user replaceable

The proximity sensor recognizes when fingers are on the keyboard and turns off the touchpad to avoid any accidental movement of the cursor while the ambient sensor adjusts the display brightness according to its surrounding environment. It also has this cool Voodoo Aura PowerConnect where you can hook up the RJ45 cable into the device and the LAN port on the wall and it will create a secured wireless connection to your laptop so you’re still basically unwired even if there aren’t any available WiFi around.

They come in personalized colors so you get the full palette of paint finishes plus an extra custom microweave design if you wanted to.

Weight — 3.373 lbs. Starting price is $2,099. To be officially released on June 27.
