Gonuts Donuts

Gonuts

Gonuts Donuts opens shop at Eastwood City and we were one of the first few people to line up and have a taste. Was a bit curious why there weren’t really a lot of people lining up. Maybe they did earlier that day and we just came right after lunch. We only knew about it because we bumped into some people bringing home a box or two. I got half a dozen for me and before office hours were over, all of them were gone. :D

It’s almost in front of the Eastwood City circle where they hold parties and concerts, near Seattle’s Best.

Here’s a shot of the area from Gonut’s:

hi, i’m 3 mos pregnant and i craved for gonuts donuts! really delicious! it suits my taste! but it quite hard to have it because i’m from batangas city. i always text all my cousins in manila, ask them to buy me gonuts whenever they will go home to batangas. fortunately they alternately go home almost 3x a week and they brought me two boxes assorted flavors, so i have enough supply of gonuts. i’m interested to franchise here in batangas city if i can pass your requirement. more power to gonuts donuts! tnx

There’s another donut shoppe called Cello’s doughnuts and it tastes great!! The dough is super soft even after a day. THey’re in Katipunan along Loyola Hts in front of Ateneo. Flavors include: choc-nut, M&M’s, cheese (my favorite) and Oreo among others.

    33. Gravatar Icon yuga replied on Nov 12th, 2005 at 7:08 pm (33)

Yes, read about Cello’s Donuts in Entrepreneur Magazine. Wish they have a branch or something here in makati so i can try it as well.

    34. Gravatar Icon Bong Guerra replied on Dec 14th, 2005 at 7:06 am (34)

    35. Gravatar Icon xam replied on Jan 24th, 2006 at 1:40 am (35)

i was one of the startup team sa gonuts. one of the marketing management trainees hired to help with the startup. we helped out with the selection of boxes, purchasing of store signs, leaflets, flyers, i personally gave the free 5 dozens to xmas parties, ayaw pa nila noon!! di ko inexpect na papatok at the time. even when i tasted it. i thought, yeah right, maski masarap yan, institution na ang dunkin. before we opened, may dry runs na ng production. they produced so many donuts a day and there was nothing to do with the donuts. so the boxes and boxes were given away. had so much of that amazing grace (glaze!!)!

then when we opened, sabi ng gonuts mgt, we help out daw with the opening. sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!! that was the most tiring month of my entire life! we didn’t expect demand would be that high, there were only four of us behind the counter, and we had to pack and sell an average of 15 DOZENS PER MINUTE for 12 hours, with only 30 minutes of break time!!! the consolation was that in the beginning we were allowed to eat any number of donuts we wanted. just bend behind the counter and eat all you want!! :) yummy!!!! i gained 10lbs in a month! heheheh! we were even hired to go around for 2 weeks to stake out and eat donuts at dunkin and mister donuts.

that was how hot gonuts was in the beginning! too bad i had to leave the company… at the time it was just too tiring na kasi! am still an avid fan of gonuts though. best donuts around. so proud of gonuts! so proud to be part of its history. :)

anyway, about the cello doughnuts, they’re not even donuts meaning hindi siya dough. if you will notice, the cheese cello donut tastes even more like ensaymada than a donut. that’s coz its really cake in the shape of a donut. :p

as for the hot loops, well, kulang pa talaga. fyi, the formulation of gonuts took four years in the making. r&d personnel were sent to the american baking association to perfect the formula. another thing, guys. if you were one of the first to taste the donuts, that means you tasted the original gonuts. in the beginning the donuts were glazed RIGHT AFTER (maybe delayed about 2 seconds max) they go out of the oven. The effect is a really clear, plastic-like, “laminated” glaze. That was when gonuts was not that sweet, and the bread was even better than it is now.

Another trivia. The original zigzags looked like mister donuts’ “twist”. Why it became that weird shaped donut? Because at the time when demand was soooo high, they had to find ways to make a donut like PRONTO, there was no time then to make the classic twist. and the product labels used for the weird-shaped donuts were those with the label “zigzag”. people started calling them zigzags and that’s it.

Another trivia, the filled donuts - pastillas de leche, strawberry filled, hazelnut - were not glazed in the beginning. they were sugar-powdered, similar to dunkin donuts. they were later glazed for time-saving reasons again.

it’s really nice to have eaten so much go nuts donuts.

    36. Gravatar Icon Krispy Kreme fan replied on Feb 1st, 2006 at 4:53 am (36)

Masarap naman ang Gonuts, pero nakakasawa pagtagal. From what I know/heard… ginaya lang talaga ng Gonuts ang Krispy Kreme. And probably 7 out of 10 people who have tried Krispy Kreme donuts, would say that KK is much better. Plus kaya ng KK magprovide ng glazed donuts sa customers straight from the donut machine (freshness you cant beat). Kahit na hirap financially ang KK ngayon, mas masarap pa rin yun kesa Gonuts honestly.

(forgive me if there’s a wrong grammar, hehe ;P) I read it once in a newspaper but I could not seem to remember where and what the newspaper is. If you can include other information which can help me know more about Go nuts! Donuts! it will be well-apppreciated. ;P Sorry if I sound demanding. Thank you very much. i’m a fanatic of gonuts donuts. i’m inlove with pastillas de leche and black forest!, i had encountered an irritated crew one time but i couldn’t just blame her, cause there were lots of guests who just can’t understand the prices at gonuts… they are thinking that rocky road is at the same price of gobblers! harhar…
i don’t really have negative comments about gonuts donuts, i am just a bit dissappointed when i bought a box of six of premium with mixed of prima ,at manila,(ermita) and found out that the sizes of my donuts aren’t the same.there were big and there were undersized, i asked the crew about the location of their production(i mean where they got their donuts.)to know after a lot of insists, that they received their donuts from ARANETA GONUTS DONUTS. i am just suggesting the gonuts donuts to maintain the sizes and the quality of their donuts for i myself chooses the great taste of food corresponding the right value of it.
thanks for hearing me out. love you gonuts and more power!
